Moon Knight Director Gives Update On Season 2
Key Takeaways
- Moon Knight’s Season 2 prospects are uncertain, with no real talks of a possible follow-up season and nothing in the works.
- Director Mohamed Diab hints at the potential for Moon Knight to return in various forms, possibly in a film or another universe.
- Despite Moon Knight’s experimental nature and unique approach, Diab’s door remains open for a return, if the MCU ever wanted.
With Marvel showing off what it has planned for the MCU on Disney Plus for the rest of this year and at least part of next year, one character was noticeably absent. As has been the case since the first season came to a close, Moon Knight was not mentioned, one way or another. So will there ever be a Season 2 of that particular series, or has the character been effectively shelved for good?
As more and more characters are being brought into the MCU such as Daredevil, Ironheart and more, some of the existing characters could be shoved into the background. Of course, Moon Knight has seeming been shoved to the background since 2022 when Oscar Isaacs became hte first person to play a live-action Marc Spector for the first time. Finally, there might be an update on whether or not there will ever be a Season 2, though it might not be all that optimistic for those hoping to see more of the hero backed and empowered by an Egyptian God.

Will Moon Knight Season 2 Ever Happen?
Director Mohamed Diab recently spoke to Deadline about a couple of different projects and that included Moon Knight. When the conversation turned to the storyline that definitely left some room to the point where there absolutely could have been a follow-up season, Diab said there haven’t been any sort of talks and nothing was in the works. At the same time, did offer a little bit of hope by saying that when he’s talked to Marvel in the past, it’s clear that sometimes a no today doesn’t mean a no forever.
“You never know – with Marvel nothing is called finished. There could be a film, or he could go into another universe.”
Diab added that he absolutely loved working on Moon Knight, but he also was educated in just how harsh Hollywood can be at this point. To some degree, he said that’s one of the reasons why he’s a little more pickier about the projects he takes these day. However it’s clear that while he does believe that Hollywood can indeed be harsh, his relationship with Marvel, at least from his perspective is still very good.
He added that the door is always open for him to return to the MCU, whether it be for something else involving Moon Knight, or an entirely different character and project.
Moon Knight always felt like it was a bit of an experimental endeavor. Perhaps that’s why Marvel felt it had to go out and get a massive star like Isaacs to play the titular character. With the show being completely removed from the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Diab was able to do some things that some of the other superhero shows that have aired on Disney Plus haven’t been able to do. That originality might have turned some viewers off, especially since most of the program took part in an area of the world where the average Marvel fans might not be familiar.
