Ever since Amphoreus was released in Honkai: Star Rail, we’ve constantly seen different Chrysos Heir getting their arc in the main story. During the Version 3.2 update, Castorice was the Chrysos Heir to receive all the love, including her release as the playable Remembrance character.

Honkai: Star Rail – Mydei Build Guide
Mydei is an Imaginary Destruction character in Honkai: Star Rail, and here’s everything you need to know while building him.
She’s a five-star Quantum character who relies on taking away the team’s HP to deal a ton of damage. However, when you’re looking to build Castorice, you’ll have to use some specific light cones, relics, and planar ornaments to make her valuable.
Complete Castorice Build Guide
If you’ve successfully pulled Castorice from her limited gacha banner in Honkai: Star Rail, the next step is to build her with some of her best light cones, relics, and planar ornaments. While you might not have a lot of choices when it comes to her Light Cones, there are quite a few for the relics, and here are your best choices:

Sub-Stat Priority |
Crit Rate/DMG, HP Percent |
Castorice needs at least over 8,000 HP outside of battle to get the most value from her HP-scaling kit. If you have any lower than this, you should go for HP Percent as the main stat on the sphere. Even if you have just over 8,000, it’s still recommended to go for HP Percent.
However, if you’ve managed over 8,500 HP, you can go for the Quantum DMG Bonus as the main stat.
If you’re using any other relic set than Post of Mourning Collapse, you can also look for some SPD on her sub-stats.
Best Castorice Light Cones
Choosing the correct Light Cone is the most important part of Castorice’s build since you’ll be getting some of the most important basic stats and other buffs from it. You can only use the Remembrance light cones on her if you want to trigger the extra passive with the character.
Castorice’s best light cone is undoubtedly her signature weapon called Make Farewells More Beautiful, and there’s no competition. This Light Cone gives you significantly higher value than any other choices you have, though it’s not possible for everyone to get her signature light cone.
In that scenario, here are all the choices you have:
Make Farewells More Beautiful |
This light cone starts off by giving Castorice an extra 30 percent HP, which is already great since her damage scales on it. Furthermore, when the wearer or their memosprite lose HP in their turn, they gain Death Flower. This effect lets them ignore 30 percent of the enemy’s DEF for two turns, which is one of the most valuable buffs to get. Finally, when Castorice’s dragon disappears, she gets her action advanced by 12 percent. |
---|---|
Sweat Now, Cry Less |
The battle pass light cone comes as the second choice for Castorice as it increases her Crit Rate by up to 20 percent while also increasing her and the dragon’s DMG by 36 percent when the latter is on the field. |
Reminiscence |
Finally, if you don’t have the light cones mentioned above, you can also use this three-star to increase her DMG by up to 48 percent when the dragon acts up to four times. This DMG boost goes away every time the dragon exits the battle. |
Best Castorice Relics And Planar Ornaments
The relic and planar ornament sets are available for free in Honkai: Star Rail, but you have to farm them consistently for the right stats. Therefore, you’d want to do this farming for the best possible set you have. For Castorice, the best relic and planar ornament sets are Poet of Mourning Collapse and Bone Collection’s Serene Demesne respectively.
Thankfully, if you haven’t progressed enough in the story to unlock these sets or don’t have good pieces on them yet, you have quite a few other choices:
Castorice Relic Set Synergy
Poet of Mourning Collapse |
The low base SPD makes this set perfect for Castorice build since it gives her 10 percent Quantum DMG and up to 32 percent free Crit Rate as long as she has 95 or lower SPD at the start of the battle. Her SPD increases when she enters battle, but this set already takes effect before that and lasts until the battle ends. |
---|---|
Genius of Brilliant Stars |
This was one of the most valuable relic sets on Honkai: Star Rail’s release, and it also serves as a good alternative for Castorice. It gives her the same 10 percent Quantum DMG Bonus as above. Furthermore, it lets her ignore 20 percent of the enemy’s DEF if you’re attacking an enemy with Quantum weakness, and half of that if the opponent doesn’t have the Quantum weakness. |
Hero of Triumphant Song |
This relic set will give you significantly less value than the two above, and the two-piece bonus on it is useless on Castorice. However, you can still use it if you have some broken stats on its pieces. With the four-piece, it increases Castorice and her dragon’s Crit DMG by 30 percent when they attack. |
Castorice Planar Ornament Synergy
Bone Collection’s Serene Demesne |
This is undoubtedly the most valuable planar ornament set while building Castorice as it gives her 12 percent extra HP and 28 percent Crit DMG. The latter triggers when Castorice has over 5,000 HP, which is easy. |
---|---|
The Wondrous BananAmusement Park |
This set can be quite a decent alternative for Castorice as she can have a whopping 48 percent Crit DMG boost with it as long as her dragon is on the field. |
Sigonia, the Unclaimed Desolation |
If you’re planning to use Castorice in Pure Fiction, she’ll be defeating a lot of enemies. This planar ornament set suits perfectly in that situation as it increases her Crit Rate and Crit DMG as you defeat more enemies. |
You can find the main and sub-stat priority for Castorice’s relics and planar ornaments above.
Best Castorice Team Compositions
Best Castorice Team |
Castorice, Tribbie, Remembrance Trailblazer, Luocha |
---|---|
Castorice F2P Team |
Castorice, Pela, Remembrance Trailblazer, Gallagher |
Dual-DPS Castorice Team |
Castorice, Mydei, Tribbie/Ruan Mei, Luocha |
Once you’re done farming for Castorice’s build and getting the right stats on her, the next step is to build a team that synergizes well with her. The team that currently works the best for Castorice includes her, Tribbie, Remembrance Trailblazer, and Luocha with the roles of main DPS, support, sub-DPS, and sustainer respectively.
Tribbie can increase Castorice’s All-Type RES PEN with her Skill while also increasing the enemy’s DMG taken with her Ultimate. She can also deal a decent amount of extra DMG with her follow-up attacks, though most of your extra damage in this team will come from Remembrance Trailblazer.
When using Mem’s Lemme! Help You! ability on Castorice, you can deal an extra instance of True DMG on the enemies whenever she deals damage. This significantly boosts her overall damage as her dragon constantly attacks every enemy on the field.
The True DMG from Mem can deal up to 48 percent of the original DMG in each instance when she’s leveled up.
Finally, Luocha is the perfect sustainer for this team since Castorice constantly consumes the team’s HP with her skill, and he can heal it back up quickly. He also has a special synergy with Castorice’s dragon within his field.
Luocha’s field heals every ally when they attack the enemy. When the dragon uses the first attack of Breath Scorches the Shadow ability, it gets slightly healed, which lets you use four charges of this ability without the dragon leaving the field.
If you don’t have Tribbie or Luocha for her main team, you can replace them with Pela or Gallagher respectively. Pela can reduce all the enemy’s DEF on the field, which will give you just a little less value than Tribbie. On the other hand, Gallagher might make it a little difficult for your team to stay alive if you don’t have some eidolons on him.
Finally, you can also try out a dual DPS composition with a team of Castorice, Mydei, Tribbie, and Luocha. Mydei gets a buffed attack once a certain amount of his HP is consumed, and Castorice makes it easier to get this attack. You can also use Ruan Mei instead of Tribbie in this team since she can provide better buffs for both the DPS units.

Castorice’s kit makes her one of the best all-rounder characters to use in Honkai: Star Rail since she can deal high damage everywhere. Her dragon gets a ton of SPD whenever it defeats an enemy, making it great for overworld as you can get through the waves before you blink.
However, her kit can be complicated to understand since there are a lot of abilities that you have to keep track of. Here’s an easier explanation for Castorice’s abilities:
Castorice Kit, Explained
Ability Name |
Type |
Description |
---|---|---|
Lament, Nethersea’s Ripple |
Basic ATK |
Deals 50 percent of Castorice’s HP as Quantum DMG to one target. You’ll likely never be using this attack. |
Silence, Wraithfly’s Caress |
Skill |
You use this ability when Netherwing (the dragon) isn’t on the field, consuming 30 percent of every ally’s current HP to deal damage to the main and adjacent targets. |
Boneclaw, Doomdrake’s Embrace |
Buffed Skill |
This skill is available when Netherwing is on the field, and it consumes 40 percent of allies’ current HP to deal up to 80 percent of Castorice’s MAx HP as damage to all enemies. |
Doomshriek, Dawn’s Chime |
Ultimate |
Summons Netherwing and reduces the enemies’ All-Type RES by 20 percent as long as the dragon is on the field. The dragon disappears when its HP reaches zero, or it attacks three times. |
Desolation Across Palms |
Talent |
Castorice has a special Ultimate in the form of Newbud, which has a total of 34,000 points. Every time an ally loses HP, the total lost HP is added to the Newbud count. You can use Castorice’s Ultimate to summon the dragon when the points reach the maximum. Moreover, whenever allies lose HP, Castorice and Netherwing can gain a 20 percent DMG boost three times. |
Sanctuary of Mooncocoon |
Exclusive Talent |
If you have Castorice on your account and your characters take a fatal blow in battle (even if she’s not in the team), they’ll turn into a cocoon and can act normally for a bit. Multiple characters can be cocooned if they take a fatal blow from the same attack. If you heal or shield these characters before their next turn, they’ll continue normally. If you don’t, they’ll get downed. |
Memosprite Talents |
When Netherwing is on the field and your allies take a fatal blow, their HP will be reduced to 1 and Netherwing will take the rest of the damage at a 500 percent rate until it loses all its HP. It also increases allies’ DMG dealt by 10 percent when on the field. Finally, just before leaving the field, Netherwing deals six instances of damage to random enemies and restores the team’s HP. |
|
Memosprite Skills |
When Netherwing gets a turn, you can use Breath Scorches the Shadow to consume 25 percent of its HP and deal massive damage to all enemies. If your leftover HP is equal to or below 25 percent, you can use Claw Splits the Veil instead to deal some more damage to all enemies and keep Netherwing on the field. If Netherwing gets a third turn during this summon, you’ll only have the former skill available and it’ll consume all its HP to deal as much damage as possible to the enemies before taking the dragon away. |
|
Where The West Wind Dwells |
Bonus Ability |
Each instance of Breath Scorches the Shadow in a particular turn increases its damage by 30 percent, stacking up to three times. This is why Luocha works specifically well with Netherwing. He lets Netherwing get an extra stack of this skill before they all disappear at the end of the dragon’s turn. |
Inverted Torch |
Castorice gains 50 percent more SPD when her HP is above 40 percent while Netherwing gains 100 percent SPD when it defeats an enemy. |
|
Contained Dark Tide |
When an ally receives healing, the total amount is added to Newbud when Netherwing isn’t on the field. When he is on the field, this amount is instead added to his HP. |
Castorice Eidolons, Explained
Apart from all the abilities in Castorice and Netherwing’s kit, you can also get some extra buffs if you pull for her copies and activate her Eidolons. Here’s how each Eidolon can increase her value in the battle:
- All the main abilities you use on Castorice and Netherwing can deal 120 and 140 percent of their original damage if the enemy has 80 or 50 percent or lower HP respectively.
- You get two stacks of Ardent Will when you summon Castorice, and these can be used instead of its HP to trigger the Breath Scorches the Shadow ability. Using these stacks also gives Castorice an instant turn and lets her get 30 percent Newbud with the enhanced skill.
- Ultimate, Basic ATK, and Memosprite talent levels are increased by two, one, and one respectively.
- All allies gain a 20 percent incoming healing bonus with Castorice in the team.
- Skill, Talent, and Memosprite Skill level is increased by two, two, and one respectively.
- Increases the instances of damage Netherwing deals while leaving the field from six to nine. When attacking, both Castorice and Netherwing also increase their Quantum RES PEN by 20 percent. Finally, you can reduce the enemy’s Toughness even if they don’t have Quantum weakness.
Castorice Trace Priority
Remembrance characters have two extra traces that you have to level up compared to other units in Honkai: Star Rail, though the overall resources you spend stay the same. For Castorice, the priority for her trace upgrades is Netherwing’s Skill followed by the talent. Here’s the order you should upgrade the rest of her traces in:
- Memosprite Skill
- Memosprite Talent
- Talent
- Ultimate
- Skill
- Basic Attack (optional)
Other than these, you’d also want to unlock all her bonus abilities and other trace nodes as soon as possible.
Is Castorice Worth Getting?
While playing Honkai: Star Rail as a free-to-play or low-spending player, you won’t get enough Stellar Jades to pull every character and their light cone. Hence, it’s important to plan your pulls and get the characters that’d be good for your account. While thinking about pulling for Castorice, you should keep these strengths and weaknesses in mind:
Strengths
|
Weaknesses
|
Even though she consumes a lot of HP, there are plenty of abilities preventing your characters from being downed including her and Netherwing’s talents. Castorice can easily deal with the endgame content as long as the enemies have Quantum weakness since her damage goes past one million commonly. |
Castorice is a resource-intensive character since she gets significantly higher value if you have her signature light cone and the best team members. The meta for Honkai: Star Rail changes quite fast, and it’s likely that Castorice won’t be as usable after two to three months, which might make all the investment not as worth. |
If you have Remembrance Trailblazer built, you can go for Castorice without any questions since this duo can defeat everything.
In the end, you’d only want to pull for characters that you like since their position in the meta can rapidly change. If you like Castorice’s design and think that her abilities are enjoyable, it’s definitely worth pulling this unit.
