After an agonizingly long three-year wait, Netflix’s animated anthology series Love, Death & Robots is finally returning to the small screen, and its premiere date is only weeks away from release. Since premiering in 2019, the highly rated previous three seasons of the series have won a host of accolades, which include 13 Emmy Awards and another for Outstanding Short Form Animated Program. For Season 3’s Jibaro episode, a firm favorite among its fanbase, Alberto Mielgo, a multi-award-winning animator, won the juried Emmy Award for best individual achievement in animation.
The adult animated series has had its fair share of high-profile voice actors attached to it since its release, including Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Joel McHale, Topher Grace, John DiMaggio, Elodie Young, and Chris Parnell. Shows similar to Love, Death & Robots‘ style have come and gone over the years, with some doing better than others. Although Secret Level, an adult animated anthology series on Amazon Prime Video, created by Tim Miller and produced by his Blur Studio, was praised for its interesting video game concept, especially its horrifying Pac-Man episode, it couldn’t quite reach the heights that Love, Death & Robots did, with many viewers criticizing its short episodes and lackluster pace. Love, Death + Robots Season 4 Gets a New Trailer and Premiere Release Date
Netflix has shown off its wild and incredible looking trailer for the ten-episode fourth season of its returning adult animated anthology series Love, Death + Robots, which returns on May 15th. Its new animated stories feature worlds filled with a variety of futuristic technology and interesting characters, from dinosaur gladiators and a cyborg woman to a judgmental ginger cat and, apparently, household appliances, which will be rooted in a chaotic mix of horror, sci-fi, comedy and dark humor. David Fincher and Tim Miller will return to season 4 of the series as executive producers, with Jennifer Yuh Nelson once again the supervising director.
Like its previous seasons, Love, Death & Robots will feature its fair share of blood, gore, nudity, sexual scenes, and bad language, as showcased through its latest trailer, so it’s certainly not one for younger eyes. The trailer also confirms that, like past seasons, each stand-alone episode features a different narrative and animation and will be produced by individual animation studios from across the globe. Recently, Game of Thrones‘ creator, George R. R Martin, praised Love, Death & Robots‘ animation style, stating that he thought “it was one of the best” shows he’s ever seen and would love it if one of his animated spin-offs could look anything close to it.
