Summary
- Wind Breaker’s second season starts with a high-stakes rescue mission led by Sakura against the KEEL gang.
- The gang faces overwhelming odds with KEEL’s surprise numbers and violent tactics in a fight for survival.
- The arrival of second-year students shifts the tide in Bofurin’s favor, but Sakura must confront his distraction in his one-on-one battle.
Wind Breaker‘s first episode of its second season picks up right where season one left off, as Sakura and his class seek out the KEEL organization to get retribution on a friend of one of the Bofurin members. An organization wearing white coats with the symbol of a dragon skeleton, KEEL members are known for their thug-like behavior and usage of bats, wooden planks, and any other large object. It’s a new experience for the Wind Breaker gang, and the rescue mission of Atsushi Nagato raises the stakes higher than any ordinary gang fight.
Sakura is also dealing with his first conflict as a first-year captain, and, along with the help from Hayato Suo and Akihiko Nirei, dives head first into a hostile territory. Not all is what it seems upon first glance, as the KEEL’s numbers are drastically overwhelming, leading to a fight for not only the retrieval of a friend, but for their own survival as well. The burning question leading into the conclusion of Season 2, Episode 14, “Rage”, is whether the first-class students are way in over their heads.

Anyone who gets in the way is gonna get beaten into the ground.
The debut episode of the break-out anime’s second season picks up directly where season one left the audience, wasting no time showing the action and leaving very little to the imagination. The Conflict With Keel Off To An Explosive Start
The Introduction To Keel And Its Members And Strength In Numbers
Upon discovering the KEEL hideout outside the borders of their protection, Sakura and Bofurin are led to believe that KEEL is a rather small gang. Preparing for a battle of equal numbers, they quickly learn that the information is correct, and are led into a trap where they are heavily outnumbered. To make matters worse, the KEEL members came prepared with bats, wooden planks, and steel pipes, and had every intention of leaving their opponents bloody and unconscious.

Do You Prefer Tokyo Revengers or Wind Breaker?
I much preferred Wind Breaker, personally. I enjoy the character’s designs more and find the characters themselves to be much more likable. Plus, I also prefer the fact that Wind Breaker lacks the time travel scenarios in Tokyo Revengers. Sure, Sakura might be a bit hot-headed as a protagonist from time to time, but I found it quite enjoyable to watch him get a quick reality check at Furin and learn that they don’t just fight to beat other people up and become strong, but to protect their streets and those who are not strong enough to protect themselves.
Led by Shingo Natori, the leader of KEEL, the situation starts off less than ideal but nothing Bofurin can handle. Sakura, Vice-Captain Hayato Suo, and the efforts of Kyotaro Sugishita, Mitsuki Kiryu, and Taiga Tsugeura are more than enough to deal with the disadvantage in numbers while keeping the rest of their first-year classmates at ease. Unfortunately, they are met by the KEEL VIPs, which drastically change the momentum of the fight.
- Takeru Kongo fights Sakura
- Shyu Kirishima fights Tsugeura
- Taishi Mogami fights Sugishita
- Renji Kaga fights Kiryu
- Hansuke Tone fights Suo
The one-on-one fights during round two leave the rest of the Bofurin members outnumbered and taken advantage of, including Akihiko Nirei, who attempts to engage in the fight and is quickly beaten down to a pulp. With Sakura and the stronger fighters tied up and Bofurin being pushed to the edge of defeat, it would take a miracle for them to turn the tables on KEEL and win the battle.
What Happens At The End Of Season 2, Episode 14?
Bofurin’s Struggle Leads To A Miraculous Save
After Nirei is taken down and on the verge of being bludgeoned by one of the KEEL members, the Bofurin are saved by the entry of three second-year students; Ren Kaji, Yuto Kusumi, and Takeshi Enomoto. Their arrival not only helps turn the favors back to the Bofurin side, but it helps draw the attention away from the overwhelmed and outnumbered Bofurin members. It also gives the stronger five Bofurin the advantage of turning their full attention to their one-on-one fights, a luxury they didn’t have before the second-year students helped out.
You’re only thinking about beating him up, aren’t you?
Kaji’s revelation to Sakura is that his focus on beating up the head of KEEL and saving Nagato is heavily weighing on his one-on-one fight with Kongo. Instead of utilizing all of his skills and abilities, Sakura is distracted and, as a result, is losing the fight. With Kaji now in the picture and willing to take on KEEL’s leader, Sakura is left to understand that he’s become lame in his struggle, which is something he won’t let stand.
Bofurin now has the advantage with the arrival of the second-year students, but will it be enough to save Nagato? Will Kaji alone be enough to stand up to Natori? Hopefully the answer to these questions will be given in the next episode of Wind Breaker.
