Pokemon GO developer Niantic has announced the full details for the upcoming Pokemon GO Fest. GO Fest is an annual celebration of Pokemon GO, and those participating in the event can receive boosts to stardust, extra candies, unique Pokemon to catch that appear during the event, and many more benefits in-game. Pokemon GO Fest first started in 2017, initially held in Chicago, but eventually spread to multiple parts of the world. Global events also happen annually, as well as the in-person festivities held in multiple cities worldwide.
It’s important to note that Pokemon GO is currently in the process of being sold to Scopely, along with the development studio Niantic. Scopely, like Niantic, is another American video game publisher and development studio based in California, known for making games like Monopoly GO. Niantic’s sale for $3.5 billion has worried some fans who are concerned about changes that may be made to Pokemon GO and Niantic’s other AR games. However, Scopely has vowed to prioritize player experiences after the sale, easing some concerns from players hoping for less aggressive monetization. Pokemon GO Fest shows no signs of stopping after the purchase goes through, so trainers can still enjoy the annual festivities without worry.

Pokemon GO fans in certain parts of the world may have access to a new rewards feature they can utilize in preparation for GO Fest in May. Pokemon GO is testing its GO Pass starting, and can reward players who pay for the deluxe pass with incense, which will be handy for the incense-exclusive Pokemon during GO Fest. Rewards unlocked in the GO Pass will expire on Thursday, May 8, at 10 AM local time, so trainers should make sure to claim their rewards before time is up.
