Wednesday star Christina Ricci opens up about playing her most famous role and how it still influences her life today.

Ortega continued that Wednesday might not want to say it, but “she really does have a friend” in Enid. Emma Myers, who plays Enid, also told Variety:

“Also, there’s no harm in changing things up, because [Enid] has changed over the summer. She’s grown, and she’s become more comfortable with herself.”

It’s interesting to imagine what changes Enid has experienced since viewers last saw her. Fans anticipate that Enid will explore more of her werewolf self in Wednesday season 2 and, based on Myers’s comments, it sounds like the character is more self-assured than she has been before. Along with learning more about Wednesday’s scary stalker, it’s clear that Enid will get the spotlight in the new season. If Enid is stronger in the second season, then perhaps she joins forces with Wednesday in the quest to locate the stalker, or she could do some sleuthing of her own without even telling her friend. Myers previously said “I like season 2 better than season 1,” which is intriguing.

Myers also shared that she was “scared” to play Enid again but reprising her role “comes very naturally now.” While Addams Family fans familiar with Wednesday Addams might not have pictured the character having a close friend, Myers gave an impressive performance in Wednesday season 1. Wednesday and Enid’s scenes are compelling, charming, and relatable. They don’t always understand each other, but Enid helps Wednesday become more comfortable with attending Nevermore Academy and being around so many new people. The characters exchange enjoyable and hilarious banter, and they connect while looking for the Hyde Monster.

Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams and Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair

Wednesday season 1 premiered on November 23rd, 2022 and introduced viewers to a bitterly sarcastic and quick-witted teenage version of Wednesday Addams. Other characters included Wednesday’s love interest Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan), Marilyn Thornhill (Christina Ricci), Bianca Barclay (Joy Sunday), and Nevermore Academy principal Larissa Weems (Gwendoline Christie). The mysterious and smart characters, played by talented actors, elevated Wednesday season 1. High ratings made a second season renewal feel inevitable. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nielson reported that Wednesday season 1 had 5.988 billion viewing minutes during the week of November 21st to November 27th, 2022. While hopefully Wednesday will still be at the center of the story even though there are many new cast members, it will be interesting to see how these new characters fit into the character’s world.

As Ortega noted, Wednesday would likely never tell anyone that she has made a genuine friend. But just like Wednesday encourages Enid to lean into her real self, Enid inspires Wednesday to be proud of who she is as well. Fans look forward to seeing more of Wednesday and Enid’s friendship in Wednesday season 2 along with the eerie Nevermore Academy setting, more sarcastic Wednesday quotes, and a new mystery. Wednesday season 2 will stream on Netflix in 2025, but there is no release date as of now. After hearing Ortega and Myers’s comments about Enid, it’s even harder to wait to see the iconic character and her good friend again.
