Genshin Impact‘s recent Weekly Bosses have introduced a variety of unique mechanics and gameplay to the game, with each featuring their own gimmick. Fontaine’s “All-Devouring Narwhal” features constantly shifting gameplay between the colossal narwhal and an imposing knight enemy, while Natlan’s “Lord of Eroded Primal Fire” provides an advantage for using Natlan characters’ Nightsoul effects. Now, leaks are teasing the next boss coming to the RPG.

A recent leak shared by prominent HoYoverse leaker HomDGCat is teasing the next Weekly Boss coming to Genshin Impact. The boss, named “Game Before the Gate,” will feature a multi-stage fight that begins with players fighting a “King Piece” enemy followed by a “Queen Piece” enemy. The second phase will task players with fighting the “Ascended King” and “Sublimated Queen,” requiring players to defeat both in short succession to prevent one from reviving. The leak also hints at Game Before the Gate’s Ultimate, with players needing to fill a Progress bar by using Cryo attacks and Freeze reactions to avoid having a character instantly slain.

• Phase 1: Face the King Piece first, then the Queen Piece
• Phase 2: Simultaeously face the Ascended King and the Sublimated Queen. After one Piece is defeated, it will either revive or greatly increase DMG dealt by the other piece.
• Ultimate: Charge the Progress bar to stop the Ult by dealing Cryo DMG. Triggering Freeze gives extra progress, while dealing Pyro DMG loses a lot of progress. If progress is not fully charged, the Ult will instantly defeat a character, ignoring Shields and Burst Invincibility.

Genshin Impact‘s newest Weekly Boss will look to provide a unique boost to Cryo characters after fans have lodged complaints about the Element in recent updates. Many fans have suggested that the introduction of Dendro has greatly weakened Cryo characters, being one of the only Elements that cannot interact with Dendro. Recent leaks have even implied that HoYoverse is considering further buffs to Cryo, with a Cryo-Dendro Elemental Reaction potentially in the works.
