These are the strongest characters you’ll find in The Manhwa in Solo Leveling.

Donghua is a term used to refer to any Chinese animation, whether it’s 2D or 3D. There is a lot out there, so it can be hard to decide what to watch first. Here, we are going to take a look at some of the best Donghua out there for you to watch today!

This list is presented in no particular order.

The King’s Avatar

The King’s Avatar is a fantastic show about professional gamers. In this, a pro esports player retires unwilling and spends ten years honing his skills. Rather than being an isekai set in a vaguely RPG-esque world, The King’s Avatar focuses on the gamers themselves.

Overall, the main character in The King’s Avatar is strong; there is no intense training arc that transforms him from an underdog to a hero. Instead, he is powerful, and stays powerful the entire time. Oh, and the battle scenes have phenomenal animation.

7

Dragon Raja

Next up, we have Dragon Raja. This show combines the fantastical with our modern world, following along a high schooler who was accepted to a mysterious college that he didn’t apply for. Based on the name of the show, it’s safe to say that it involves dragons.

Does this name sound vaguely familiar? There is also a mobile game of the same name, but the two are not related in any way.

Dragon Raja does a wonderful job of combining this fantasy world with a college filled with dragon-hunting students. In terms of 2D Donghua, Dragon Raja is definitely one of the best watching-options out there.

6

The Daily Life Of The Immortal King

A group of students walking in The Daily Life of the Immortal King.

The Daily Life of the Immortal King is another Donghua that combines the fantastical with everyday life. In this show, Wang Ling is pretty much a genius with an unfathomable amount of power. Of course, the hardest challenge he will have to face is being a high school student.

This isn’t the most serious show out there, and many note the differences between the source material; if you are looking to relax and have a fun time though, The Daily Life of the Immortal King is a good option.

The Young Brewmaster’s Adventure

Characters from The Young Brewmaster's Adventure posing.

The Young Brewmaster’s Adventure is the first 3D animated show on our list, taking place in a historical setting. If you are used to 2D animation, then this may be a bit jarring at first, but after a while, you’ll grow use to this video game-esque animation.

In the Donghua, we follow Baili Dongjun, who leaves his estate to pursue winemaking. This show is part of a larger story, including several seasons of Great Journey of Teenagers. If you are enthralled by this classical world, then be sure to check out the others!

Next, we have Link Click. This Donghua takes us to a unique photo studio, in which the main two characters can essentially time travel into the photos of clients. It’s not all fun and games though; going back in time can have some serious consequences.

8 Best Time Travel Anime

Time travel can be dangerous, if these anime are anything to go by.

If you are brand new to Donghua, we highly recommend starting with this show. Many have compared it to Japanese anime like Erased or Orange, which are two phenomenal shows. If you are itching for more Link Click, a prequel recently aired as well.

3

The Outcast

Characters from The Outcast at a crooked angle.

The Outcast has a few different names that you may have heard. The original webcomic is called Under One Person, and the animation is sometimes referred to as Hitori no Shita. Regardless, the show follows a college student (Chou Soran) who returns to a small village to visit his grandfather’s grave.

While at the graveyard though, he is attacked by zombies and thankfully saved by a sword-wielding girl. This isn’t just your average zombie show though; you’ll need to watch more to find out what exactly is going on!

2

Throne Of Seal

Characters posing from Throne of Seal.

Throne Of Seal is the second 3D Donghua on our list, and it is also set in a historical time period. In Throne of Seal, our young main character joins a temple with the goal of becoming stronger and ultimately inheriting the throne.

Overall, Throne of Seal has a great story and even better animation. The show doesn’t really stick to any one genre; you can find some truly heartfelt moments, as well as lighthearted and comedic moments that will leave you smiling.

1

Heaven Official’s Blessing

The two main characters in Heaven Official's Blessing.

Last but not least, we have Heaven Official’s Blessing. This is a popular novel series that got its own Donghua in 2020. Heaven Official’s Blessing follows Xie Lian, who originally ascended to heaven when he was 17. Since then, he was banished and re-ascended a total of three times.

I read the novels of Heaven Official’s Blessing first and absolutely loved them!

Now, he finds himself tangled with Hua Cheng, who is essentially a ghostly king. Heaven Official’s Blessing combines a love story with a compelling world filled with heavenly officials and loose ghosts that are ready to cause some real chaos.
