Riot Games partners up with the EWC until 2027
Last year, the Esports World Cup only featured League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics tournaments- VALORANT didn’t make it due to colliding schedules with Stage 2 of all VCT regions.
This year, Riot Games partnered up with the tournament organizer Esports World Cup Foundation on a 3-year deal, actively including the EWC branding in its global events and adding the VALORANT tournament. The news was first confirmed in a report by Mikhail Klimentov, revealing both VALORANT and VALORANT Game Changers as featured game titles. Klementov’s report also stated a Riot spokesperson denied that GC’s inclusion was up for discussion, though confirmed that talks about the developer’s roster of titles appearing at the EWC were ongoing.
Earlier last week, the EWCF revealed the 40 organizations participating in their Club Partner Program with the majority of them being involved in Riot Games’ shooter title. The program was created with the goal of promoting the Esports World Cup while receiving incentives to expand their operations and enter new titles.
