Players can find some consumables throughout the world of Atomfall, but the most reliable way to get buffs, status effect cures, and other consumables is to use the crafting system. You must collect or trade for materials and ingredients to craft consumables, and one of the most important things to collect is Herbs.

Herb is used for all types of consumables, but to find Herb, Atomfall players will have to keep a keen eye out for it throughout all of the game’s five zones. Follow this guide to learn what Herb is used for, how to find Herb, and locations where you can farm Herb in Atomfall.

What Are Herbs Used For In Atomfall?

In Atomfall, Herb is used as a crafting material in a variety of consumables, but it’s especially important for the Strange Tonic. Also called Mother Jago’s Tonic, this consumable can only be crafted if you have 5x Herb in addition to a host of other ingredients. The Strange Tonic grants resistance to Infection, which is required to survive dangerous Infection spores that are common in several main locations.

It can also be used to craft consumables like the Combat Stim, Burn Salve, Radiation Resistance, and Antidote (which is used to counteract Poison).

It’s a good idea to farm Herbs in Atomfall so that you will always be able to craft a Strange Tonic or other cure for status effects as needed.

The Combat Stim is handy, but unless you play Atomfall exclusively with a melee weapon, it’s not worth the materials.

Where To Find & Farm Herbs In Atomfall

To farm Herbs, Atomfall players must keep an eye out for clusters of tall purple flowers. There are some flowers with long, thin leaves that are purple in color, but these are just environmental scenery objects. The Herb plant looks like an actively flowering, tall bunch of daisies.

Atomfall Deluxe Edition and Quarantine Edition offer players special in-game rewards, DLC access, and the ability to play Atomfall early.

Herb can be found in just about every region of the game no matter which direction Atomfall players go first – including some in the final, underground area. But this material is most commonly found in Wyndham Village, Slatten Dale, and Casterfell Woods (in that order).

In Wyndham Village, look around every home and up the hill to the west of the main village. You should find a cluster of 3x Herb around a tree up the hill, several individual Herb in pots throughout town, and a handful of 2x Herb spawns along the walls of the village. You can also reliably find a cluster of 3x Herb near the entrance to Skethermoor.
In Slatten Dale, look along the banks of the creek and in areas to the west of the quarry to find several Herb locations. You can find a cluster of 2x Herb in a row of homes just west of the railyard, and several individual Herb spawns near the main path leading south from Wyndham Village. Another cluster of four can be found in the mountains on the far west of the zone. Atomfall players should be wary in this location and avoid attracting the attention of Outlaws.
In Casterfell Woods, keep an eye out for the tall purple flowers at the base of trees and around abandoned buildings. Herb is not as common in Casterfell Woods as in other regions, but you can still find Herb locations spread sparsely throughout the open zone, particularly in the south and middle of Casterfell Woods and near sources of water.
In Skethermoor, look for Herb spawns on the hills surrounding the Skethermoor Prison and protocol camps, in the Ruined Hamlet, near bodies of water, and in the forested and vegetated areas that exist on the borders of this zone. You can also find some Herb on the prison farm on the other side of the valley, opposite the prison.

You can also find some Herbs as you descend further into the underground areas of the game. Without spoiling too many details, once you are in the final area and close to beating the game (which will be obvious), look for an infected giant plant enemy, squeeze past a storage container, then double back to reach a ledge above the hostile plant for a whopping 6x Herb spawns.

Herb spawn locations reset after a certain amount of time in-game, so be sure to return to any Herb spawn hotspots you discover after a few hours to harvest another haul of materials.
