Summary
- Assassin brotherhoods evolve over time, adapting clothing to represent origin and growth in the Creed’s vision.
- Protagonists start with diverse outfits, symbolizing their personal journey and commitment to the Creed.
- Individual assassins embody core values through their distinct attire, reflecting unique backgrounds and experiences.
The Assassin’s Creed franchise has been spreading and developing within different eras. What’s right and necessary has shifted between different assassin brotherhoods to accomplish their overall goal for society’s peace. The creed was even lost and distorted at certain times for the protagonists to recover it. Not every assassin was born within the creed, but they grew for it.
What’s important is how the protagonists represent the assassin’s brotherhood during their beginning. Every ancestor has stemmed from some origin, which is seen through their appearance and design. While their journey reveals the ancestor’s perspective of the overall conflict, their outfit tells players more about who they are. The most ideal assassin robe is a memorable and personalized look of an assassin committed to their creed.

Eivor and Leonidas’ grandchildren dealt with tragic experiences in their early years. They were forced on their own due to broken trusts and left to rot for the worst. Unlike in other Assassin’s Creed games, the developing brotherhoods never assisted them during their most vulnerable moments.
Since they never met the Hidden Ones early, they never earned official robes at first. They instead wear clothing to appear more like warriors rather than assassins, diminishing their need to hide in the shadows.

Shay Cormac retold his perspective on how he disregarded the assassins for the Templars. His black assassin robes fit his upcoming traitorous motives, though his white hood shows his original commitment to the creed. It wasn’t until later that the brotherhood’s growing corruption was exposed, influencing him to betray his closest allies.
Once he was deemed a traitor by the Assassin brotherhood, he switched sides to combat the corrupted assassins. His new starting clothes remail black, with some red colors and Templar insignia in the middle to show his new allegiance. What’s better is how he disregards the hood when exploring restrictive areas, showing little need to hide.

His appearance doesn’t change much before and after his oath as a hidden one. Still keeping his Medjay title, he uses a ripped cloth over his head to conceal himself as much as possible. Since he still wears his authoritative outfit, he can’t blend well with the crowd. It’s still an effective uniform for the source of the Assassin’s Creed.

Naoe and Yasuke are unique in what they represent. They don’t wear the more recognizable assassin clothes, but rather samurai and ninja gear. Their starting clothes use darker colors rather than traditional assassin colors, to decrease their visibility to enemies.
Naoe is more like a traditional assassin than Yasuke, since the latter uses heavier samurai armor for his close combat preference. Naoe’s starting outfit is simpler to blend better within the environment. It isn’t as memorable since they’re very standard, which is how ninjas should be to remain anonymous.

Arno was unfortunately blamed for the murder of his adoptive father, who was a part of the conflict between the Templars and the assassins. Fate had him meet an assassin representative in a prison, where their discussion influenced Arno to join the brotherhood, with the goal of exposing the masterminds harming the peace in France.
Arno’s starting assassin robe is colored blue rather than the traditional white design like the predecessors. It’s much cleaner and classier compared to the assassins who sail the seas or scurry through the streets to thieves. What’s best is how he can change his outfit variations at the very start to accommodate players’ personal preferences.

The Frye twins are known as the most mischievous pair to work in the Assassin brotherhood. Their distinct personalities and mission results have earned them an infamous record that spread even to London. They’re the closest to modern-day assassins with how they switch between low and high profiles during exploration and missions.
Both siblings show their obvious differences with their preferred starting outfits. Jacob’s outfit is a bit more rundown, to showcase his stubborn confrontational attitude. Evie is more strategic than her brother, making her clothes cleaner and higher-class.

Ratonhnhaké:ton was a native of Kanatahséton who survived the violent raid on his village home. After losing his mother and loved ones, he was encouraged to go out to seek help from the Assassin Brotherhood. Not only did he train to become an assassin, but he also learned the ways of a colonized civilian.
Connor had to train a lot to earn the assassin robe, which is the ultimate example of his completed training. His outfit resembles the previous Assassin’s Creed ancestors, though he had more blue colors to fit his allied Patriots. While his clothes are more civilized, there are hints of his native origins, like his necklace.

Edward Kenway got involved with the assassins out of pure chance. During his journey, he faced an assassin who missed the chance to kill him after being shipwrecked. Their confrontation ended quickly once Edward overtook the unprepared assassin and took his clothes to impersonate him for a rescue.
The assassin robes weren’t very appealing at first due to the crash, though the outfit looked much better once Edward added his gear. What’s best about the outfit is how it holds up to four guns, making the pirate much more threatening, especially with other allied leaders like Blackbeard. His outfit has some resemblance to the Prince in Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, with his dual-wielding swords and a red scarf around his waist.

Ezio was the only ancestor who revealed his whole life from birth to his serene end. He even revealed his most traumatic memories, which conflicted with the animus’ simulation. He has developed a lot since he followed his father’s last request and discovered the creed before his tragic end.
What’s best about his first outfit is how it was his father’s. Despite his public execution, his legacy and appearance still lives on through his own son, who swore for his father’s commitments. Not only did the white and red colors meld well together, he also had a cape to hide any surprise in his left hand.

Altair was the most loyal follower of the Assassin’s Creed. He was trained since childhood to become an ideal assassin, though his reckless attitude would cost him his high assassin rank. His outfit is the most iconic with its overwhelming white color and straightforward design.
While spotting the assassin in the open is easy, they can still blend in with the crowd. They blend very well with the religious priests since they wear white clothes, making them closely resemble their fight for peace. This design would become the ideal image for future assassin brotherhoods to face the Templars for generations.
