InZoi offering a single base price with no extra costs for DLC during early access is fantastic for fans.
InZoi, which looks to be The Sims’ biggest competitor since the series launched in the year 2000, is now on the precipice of release, and it seems to have the ambition of doing everything The Sims can do, but bigger, including deaths.
InZoi Will Have 16 Ways To Die When It Launches
During InZoi’s recent online showcase, in which the game’s director, Hyungjun “Kjun” Kim, revealed its monetisation strategy, a viewer asked a question about the ways in which characters could die. It’s clear, based on Kim’s very long, well-thought-out answer, that this is vital to InZoi.
“One of the biggest features of this game is death,” he said (via PCGamer). “In Inzoi, we have a lot of different types of death because life comes with death. In Inzoi, you could go to the bathroom, and if you slip, you might die. Or if you eat some old food, you might have to go to the bathroom and, again, die. And when you fix broken-down electronics you might get electrocuted, so you need to be careful. I made the chance really low, but actually, electronics can very often break down. We have 16 different types of deaths.”
In Inzoi, we have a lot of different types of death because life comes with death.
InZoi places more emphasis on social standing and building relationships than its competitors, and this is something that will strangely be evident in the way your Zois can die.
“But one thing that I can say that only exists in Inzoi is dying from the need for recognition,” Kim continued. “In the modern world, you find a lot of people feel fulfilled from being recognized by others, and this death reflects that. For example, in Inzoi, let’s say I fought with someone, and that rumor spread and came back to me. I could get a text message about it, or a friend of mine could tell me about the rumor, and if the rumor is negative, then my need for acknowledgment can go down. And if that drops too drastically, then you might die from that.”
In our review, we noted that once a Zoi dies, they can be brought back to life with a ‘Turn Back Time’ option, something which may make the embarrassment of dying from a lack of acknowledgment more palatable.
During the stream, Kim also shared that players can die in traffic accidents. That means we know of at least four of the sixteen possible deaths so far. You have to imagine drowning, old age, fire, and starvation are another four, so that leaves eight mysterious deaths still unaccounted for.
