As you’d expect from last year’s Game of the Year winner, there are many things to love about Astro Bot. From its tight platforming and inventive mechanics to its wonderful use of the PS5’s hardware, Astro is truly an all-timer for PlayStation with very few flaws. Well, as long as you don’t get annoyed about all of the crossovers and collaborations.

Since it launched, Astro Bot has been absolutely (or is that Astro-lutely?) packed with easter eggs and references to a number of games and characters. While some think this is a bit much and feels just like advertising, the rest of us love to see the bots dressed up as all of our favourites, something that Assassin’s Creed fans can finally get in on.
Ezio Has Finally Joined Astro Bot As Part Of Its Current Final Challenge Level
Earlier today, the final challenge level of Astro Bot’s current round of post-launch updates went live, bringing with it the very final VIP Bot in the game for now. Team Asobi picked a banger of a character to end on as well, as Ezio from Assassin’s Creed 2 has finally made his way into the game as a reward for completing Armoured Hardcore.
Don’t ask me why an Armored Core bot isn’t the reward for completing a level that’s clearly named after it. That’s just the Astro Bot way, apparently.
Ezio comes with his own tower that he can take a Leap of Faith off of, which is a nice nod to one of the series’ most well-known trademarks. Well, he was hardly going to whip out a hidden blade, was he? What’s interesting about Ezio’s appearance in Astro Bot is that he’s been teased for quite some time now and has only just made it into the game.
Back when Astro Bot launched, fans noticed that the credits mentioned a bunch of trademarks for games that had yet to be referenced, such as Tomba, Rayman, and, of course, Assassin’s Creed. We saw a lot of the teased series join the game for its Christmas level, but that weirdly didn’t include Ezio Well, that’s finally been fixed thanks to Armoured Hardcore.
