Satoru Gojo isn’t only a sorcerer; the man has the reputation of being loved by all. From the beginning of Jujutsu Kaisen, viewers realized that they were dealing with a unique character. He is all-powerful, condescending and happens to be as charismatic as an overpowered character can, which is basically the embodiment of plot armor incarnate. However, beneath that blindfold and that arrogance, there lies a purely determined mastermind, a man who turns the concept of the strongest into a whole new level.
And just when fans expected that Gojo had already reached his peak, he unleashed 200% of Hollow Purple, which is as crazy and as insane as if Gege Akutami is teasing us about how overpowered they can make a character and a move! But what is Hollow Purple? And how did Gojo increase the output to 200%? And more importantly—what does Utahime have to do with it, huh? Why did she have to perform a dance number to help him out?
Jujutsu Kaisen: Gege Reveals An Ability That Rivals Gojo’s Limitless
Gojo’s limitless is hard to rival. This one ability in JJK does get close.
What Is Hollow Purple?
A Fusion of Opposing Forces: Red and Blue
Hollow Purple, which Gojo developed, was created through the combination of two other techniques known as Cursed Technique Lapse: Blue and Cursed Technique Reversal: Red. Blue has a great attracting power, forcing objects to be pulled towards it with great force. Red instead pushes away objects with a burst of what could only be described as curse energy that emanates from his fingertips. The idea of synthesizing these two contrasting elements results in producing a sphere of destruction, which negates everything that it comes across in its path.
This is a great ability that Gojo possesses; this was evident in how he almost exterminated the special-grade curse, Hanami. Hollow Purple isn’t just strong; it’s actually rather terrifying if you think about it. The moment Toji saw the attack coming, he literally just froze and gave up. The same man who went toe-to-toe with a limitless user moments ago and almost killed him appeared so terrified by the attack; it says a lot about it. It does not slice and dice, ignite or crush; rather, it simply erases.
What Is 200% Hollow Purple?
Gojo’s Strongest Attack Yet
During his fight against Sukuna after being released from the prison realm, Gojo used an advanced version of the Hollow Purple at 200%. And as the name indicated, this was not the simple hollow purple; rather, it was much more powerful and exceeded the normal power level. Nevertheless, Gojo didn’t achieve this alone. Utahime Iori was also instrumental in boosting his power. Utahime’s Solo Forbidden Area technique can be used to empower the cursed energy of Allies. In this fight, she performed a ritual dance to Yoshinobu Gakuganji’s music, completing precise moves and chants to enhance the efficacy of the technique.
Rather than doing it as quickly as possible to save time, she performed the entire ritual right to optimize Gojo’s cursed energy output to the max. As for Hollow Purple, which was gradually closing in, Gojo gave the output attack an increase to 200% or more with the help of Utahime’s assistance—an attack that even the King of Curses felt hard. In order to complicate things even further for Sukuna, Kiyotaka Ijichi used a barrier ability to hide where Gojo was, which ensured that Sukuna would not be able to see the attack coming. The result? An explosion of such magnitude flattened four kilometers of the city and even damaged Sukuna’s energy-reinforced arms while he tried to both attack and shield himself.
Don’t Worry, I’m the Strongest. – Gojo Satoru
While Gojo’s battle with Sukuna remains one of the most intense moments in the series, 200% Hollow Purple also raises a big question: Was this the peak of his power during his fight with Sukuna? Or did he have stronger attacks and would have used them had he survived? Fans still want Gege to delve deep into Gojo’s past or at least explore the Gojo clan further and, with the success of Jujutsu Kaisen, we may one day actually see this come to light.
