Avowed: Don’t Look Down Quest Walkthrough

The Don’t Look Down quest in Avowed requires players to investigate Tago’s Tower in Shark’s Teeth and disarm the traps inside.

Players can start the First Contact With The Enemy Quest by meeting Private Nauki inside Deadfall Highlands in the Shatterscarp region Avowed. He’s standing near a camp and will call for the Envoy’s help when they get close.

He’ll start explaining his dire situation and will ask players to find out the fate of his squad in the Xaurip camp. This will start the First Contact With The Enemy Quest, as players will head into the camp to investigate Private Nauki’s squad’s whereabouts.

Retrieve the Private Nauki Squad Badges

You’ll need to retrieve four badges, each belonging to a member of Private Nauki’s squad. So, head towards the quest marker, and players will reach an area with a giant monster’s skull called the Leviathan’s Hollow. There are a bunch of Xaurips outside the area, so you can either deal with them or quickly jump into the pool under the skull and exit out the other side.

  1. The first badge can be found in the main section of Leviathan’s Hollow, with a bunch of Xaurips guarding the area. There’s a body on the floor that you can get
    Kiri’s Badge

    from.

  2. Head up the wooden platforms, follow the staircase, and take a left into a small section where you can find
    Manu’s Badge

near the altar. There’s also the Topaz Eye totem fragment that you can grab here.

  3. Keep following the interior of Leviathan’s hollow to the west, leading outside the Hollow, and you’ll find another body in the open. Loot the body to get
    Captain Ruiki’s Badge

    .

  4. For the final badge, you’ll need to head back into Leviathan’s Hollow and turn left to arrive at an open area with a rope bridge. Cross the rope bridge and follow the path until you arrive at a platform with Sergeant Hasui. Talking to the Sergeant, he will reveal how Nauki was a coward and left his squad behind to die in the face of danger. He’ll also give players
    Hasui’s Badge

to take back to Private Nauki.

Should You Forgive or Attack Private Nauki?

Return to Private Nauki and confront him about the act of cowardice. After hearing his reasons, players will have a choice to either forgive Private Nauki’s actions or attack him.

Choosing the “I think you had a real reason to fear and did what you could do” dialog option will let players forgive Private Nauki’s actions. He’ll be happy to gain the Envoy’s forgiveness and reward them with 900 coins. This will mark the First Contact with the Enemy quest as completed in Avowed. This is a better choice considering the rewards.

If you choose the “I think you’re just a coward looking for an excuse” dialog option, Private Nauki will be enraged, leading to a boss fight with him. He’s easy to deal with, and players can make quick work of him. After dealing with Nauki, you’ll need to return to Thirdborn and share all the details with Temertri. This choice doesn’t involve receiving money as a reward. She will take the badges from players, and the quest will be marked as completed.
