Two Point Museum has quickly become one of my most anticipated games of 2025.

Running any business takes quite a lot of work, and you’ll have tons of projects and locations to manage at several locations across Two Point Museum. From ghastly guests to Astral Anomalies, from expeditions to exhibits, here’s everything you might need to know about curating worthwhile museums in Two Point Museum.

What Comes In The Explorer Edition Of The Game?

When looking to grab Two Point Museum, you’ll see two separate variations of the game available through online retailers, the standard game and the Explorer Edition. Both versions give access to the core gameplay, but the Explorer Edition comes with unique in-game items exclusive to this edition of the game.

In the Explorer Edition, you can find:

  • An extra map location exclusive to this edition, which might even offer a bonus exhibit when you explore. In similar vein, you’ll have a pop-up museum challenge in the Explorer Edition that you won’t find anywhere else.
  • Gameplay perks like 5,000 Kudosh to unlock exclusive furniture right off the bat, the “Prestige Package” that gives a high Buzz item.
  • A Staff Replenishment Trunk to help your team members heal when they get back from exploring, allowing them to recover faster and get back out there to look for more exhibits even sooner than most players’ teams will.
  • Tons of version-exclusive furniture, including a few different floors or wallpapers, extra benches and statues, a decorative archway, new themes for the helicopter and your ticket desk, and a few other cosmetic perks.

Can You Combine Museum Themes?

If you’ve ever played a Two Point game before, you’ll be no stranger to the notion that each location in the campaign has its own theme. Much like how Two Point Campus let you make specialized schools, Two Point Museum organizes your museums according to one of five themes, with several sub-themes to unlock and master along the way.

For the best bang for your buck, it’s often best to stick similar displays together, unless you’ve got the space and manpower to justify adding a few Space exhibits into the Marine Life museum. That said, once you’ve progressed through the campaign mode and have progressively unlocked new Points of Interest at each new museum, you are able to stash exhibits from one museum to display in another if you’ve got your heart set on a mega-museum of sorts.

Though, you may find this easier to manage in the sandbox mode over the course of this sim game’s campaign. Playing in sandbox allows you to hire any specialized expert at any museum, so your marine divers can absolutely share a staff room with your astronauts. You’ve also got access to all the standard decoration, furniture, and gift shop merchandise from the start and won’t need to progress through the story to unlock these items

Can You Return To Previous Museums?

If you’re beginning your adventure by diving into the campaign mode of Two Point Museum, you’ll kick things off at Memento Mile, the Prehistory museum. Here, you’ll learn all the ins and outs of playing Two Point Museum – everything you’ll need to know about balancing Buzz and Knowledge, how to find new exhibits to display in your museums, how to decorate the area, how to appease guests, and so much more.

Once you’ve reached a certain point in your progress over at Memento Mile, though, the game will give you the option to then open a second museum, giving you a choice between the Wailon Lodge museum focused on all things Supernatural or Passwater Cove, the Marine Life aquarium and museum. There’s no right or wrong path to choose here – you’ll play through five museum themes throughout the entirety of the campaign.

This choice is presented at the end of the first chapter at Memento Mile, and you’ll find that to be a trend – when you’ve finished the first chapter of the story at each museum, you’ll have the chance to move onto something new, eventually opening a network of museums and becoming something of a legendary curator. That said, if you’re attached to these museums, you can always go back and keep playing older museums to keep progressing the campaign.

Unlike previous Two Point tiles, Two Point Museum offers five chapters per location, and finishing all five chapters at any given museum offers an achievement or trophy for the work it takes to get there. Later levels of these museums task you with increasingly complex tasks, but you’ll almost always find something to do at your various locations.

One of the best things about Two Point games is that you’re not under a time limit, which means you can hurry through the story in campaign and unlock new locations slowly but surely, or you can choose to linger a bit at each museum and ensure it’s the best it can be before moving on.

​​​​​​​Why Can’t I Get To All The POIs?

When you first start sending your experts and other assorted staff members out on expeditions, you’ll need to choose a Place of Interest (POI) to send them to before they’ll jump in the helicopter and take off. Earlier stages of each POI map have sparse requirements for expeditions, asking for few crew members and little to no story progression. Each POI has unique items for your crew members to discover and bring back to set out as the newest display at your current museum.

That said, as you keep going in the story, you’ll find that POIs gradually become harder to unlock as you progress through your museum. It’s not far before you’ll need things like staff with special training that allows them to navigate particularly tough expeditions or set amounts of campaign story progression, like needing to make specific amounts of money or hit certain rank goals.

In the campaign mode, unlock requirements for POIs can require work from multiple museums. For example, in the Bone Belt, you’ll see a locked location on the watery area in the northern section of the map that requires both a Prehistory expert from Memento Mile for their knowledge of the Bone Belt itself and a Marine Life expert from your Passwater Cove museum for their knowledge of all things water.

You’ll also come across locations that require objects from one museum or another, such as locations in the Netherworld that require Spirit Keys to access in addition to a full team of staff. These can be started as soon as you’ve got access to these items, but they’re often held until later chapters of each museum, so you have your work cut out for you in coordinating all your museum teams to unlock everything there is to see.

How Two Point Studios Created Unique Museum Exhibit Themes

What Are Dream Visits?

There are some rather quirky folks who pass through the doors of each museum you run throughout Two Point Museum, and you’ll want to pay attention to how each guest type values happiness during their visit. Children don’t care as much about traditional Knowledge displays as, say, professors. Similarly, you’ll find tourists everywhere though supernatural enthusiasts tend to have a relatively clear preference on museum subject matter.

Be sure to regularly check your museum management information, since each menu here offers a variety of details critical to maximize the success and ranking of every museum you operate. One of these menus provides a detailed look at every guest you’ll see and what they’re looking for in their visit before they consider themselves satisfied with the time (which means they’re more likely to donate on the way out).

Though each guest type is different, they’ll all have some kind of Dream Visit listed on their visitor information, which offers you something of a longer-term goal for each visitor type, as these are often relatively high requirements. A guest’s Dream Visit will always be in line with their visitor type, so you’ll want to be sure to appeal to a wide variety of curious learners at each museum.

​​​​​​​Can You Make Copies Of Rooms?

As you move through each of the museums in the game, you’ll no doubt enjoy exploring the various themes, learning all there is to know about each one, and making one heck of a cool display. That said, all museums will eventually need some of the same features to run smoothly – your staff will always need a staff room and training room, and your guests won’t be happy for long without bathrooms available someplace for them to raise their Toilet Comfort.

Without intervention, you’ll find yourself making quite a few of these rooms throughout the course of the campaign. Even the same museum can have multiple copies of the same room, for sake of ease, and if you find yourself making similar layouts when building these, you can always save rooms as templates to use elsewhere.

Design a gift shop you really liked? Make a template and swap out the merch at each museum throughout the campaign. Find a cafeteria layout that works well for the flow of customers? No need to deviate when you get to the next museum and need to build a new one. Trying to make gendered bathrooms? Copy the template, plop them close to one another, and change the rules on the door before unpausing the game.

To do this, simply click the Save/Update Room Templates button after selecting the room you’d like to copy. Everything you’ve placed in the room, including any potential customizations you made before saving, will then be available to place somewhere else as an exact replica. These templates are saved in your campaign save file, so you’ll be able to copy them into subsequent museums after building them, too.

​​​​​​​Why Don’t I Have My Kudosh Items In Sandbox?

When you start playing Two Point Museum, it’s not a bad idea to begin in campaign mode, since it’s the quickest way to learn the ins and outs of the game at a pace that’s easy to digest. That said, at any point, you can also choose to head into the sandbox mode, which allows you to choose any museum and build anything you’d like, choosing everything from your starting cash to your monthly grants and more. If you’re looking to start off rich and only get richer, this is the place to do it.

That said, you’ll notice that not everything follows you over from the campaign, including but not limited to specific items. While the decorations and furniture you unlock at each museum are available from the beginning and can be placed in any museum in the sandbox mode, you’ll find that you need to unlock Kudosh items again in the sandbox.

After unlocking an item with Kudosh in either game mode, you’ll then need to purchase it with cash like any other item from the catalog. Kudosh unlock the ability to place the item, not a copy of the item itself.

Though the sandbox mode is much more free-form than campaign by design, you’ll still have goals for each museum displayed on screen, just like you do in campaign. In sandbox mode, when you finish your goals, you’ll unlock some Kudosh to spend in the buy mode.
