Did you know that Badtz-Maru has a hidden detective side? If you’ve accepted the Fish Noir quest, you’ll learn that some of his fishing gear has gone missing. If you want to help him in this detective mission, we’ve prepared this guide just for you!
How To Receive The Fish Noir Quest
Before you can start the Fish Noir quest, you must first reach Friendship Level 11 with Badtz-Maru. Additionally, you need to complete a few prerequisite quests before he gives you this quest.
Specifically, you must complete ‘Keep It Reel’, another quest given by Badtz-Maru, and ‘Comic Relief’, which is given to you by Hangyodon once your friendship level with him reaches Level six. Once these conditions are met, you’ll be able to accept the ‘Fish Noir’ quest from Badtz-Maru.
How To Complete The Fish Noir Quest
To start the quest, talk to Badtz-Maru at his usual spot—the shop next to the Resort Docks fast travel point. After speaking with him, the quest officially begins. Your goal is to find all of Badtz-Maru’s lost fishing gear.
How To Find The First Clue
Your first task is to find clues on the beach. Travel to the southern part of Seaside Resort, where you’ll find the Fish Calling Card to the right of Badtz-Maru, who is wearing a detective outfit. Give this to him, and he will reward you with a Tan Detective Hat.
How To Find The Second Clue
Next, you need to dive into Rainbow Reef to find the second clue. Fast travel to Comedy Club and head northeast. Swim towards Visitor Cabin number three, and behind it, near a red coral, you’ll find the Fishes’ Map.
Take the map to Badtz-Maru, who can be found at the dock northwest of Chococat’s workbench in Seaside Resort.
How To Find The Third Clue
The next clue is also in Rainbow Reef. Fast travel to Sunken Ship, and to the left of the mailbox, you’ll find Badtz-Maru’s Fishing Rod. Take it to Hello Kitty’s cafe and give it to Badtz-Maru. In return, he will give you a Hot Cocoa. Talk to Hello Kitty and give her the Hot Cocoa.
How To Find The Final Clue
For the final clue, return to the dock northwest of Chococat’s workbench to find Badtz-Maru again. Jump off the right side of the dock into the ocean and dive deep. You’ll find the Fish Dance Reel near some pink barnacles south of Mermaidifer’s entrance.
Give the Fish Dance Reel to Badtz-Maru, and he will reward you with a Tan Detective Coat, marking the completion of the Fish Noir quest. Now, you can walk around looking like a cool detective—just like Badtz-Maru!
