A fan-favorite MCU character will return in an upcoming animated Marvel series for Disney Plus. However, the actress seemingly couldn’t provide any new information on the series because she forgot about voicing the character.
Marvel Zombies is one of three upcoming animated shows from Marvel Animation scheduled to release this year. The miniseries is based on the Marvel Comics series of the same name and set in the same alternate universe showcased in the “What If… Zombies?!” episode of the MCU series What If…? The 4-episode Marvel Zombies series centers on a group of survivors who fight against zombified MCU heroes and villains. The cast includes Awkwafina, David Harbour, Simu Liu, Randall Park, Florence Pugh, Hailee Steinfeld, Dominique Thorne, and Iman Vellani, who return to voice the animated variants of their live-action MCU characters. However, fans are arguably most excited to see Elizabeth Olsen return to voice the zombified variant of Scarlet Witch, but fans shouldn’t expect to get too much information on the character’s return from the actress.

A fan-favorite Marvel Hero from the Netflix shows will finally get the MCU solo project fans have waited for, but it won’t be a TV series or film.
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight at the 40th Film Independent Spirit Awards, where she was one of this year’s recipients of the special Robert Altman award as part of the ensemble cast of His Three Daughters, Olsen discussed the upcoming Netflix film and the currently-filming feature Panic Carefully. The interviewer concluded the conversation by noting that Olsen is confirmed to reprise her role as Scarlet Witch in Marvel Zombies, seemingly preparing to ask if fans can expect to see her return to the live-action MCU. However, before the interviewer could ask the question, a visibly taken aback Olsen said, “I feel like I did that years ago.” Laughing, Olsen admitted that she doesn’t remember doing “any of these things” or knows when they’ll be released because animation takes such a long time.
The animated Marvel Zombies series was officially announced in November 2021. Two years later in the same month, Vellani confirmed that not only was she reprising her role as Ms. Marvel in Marvel Zombies but she had already completed her voicework by then. Assuming Olsen started and completed her work around the same period, she would have voiced Scarlet Witch for Marvel Zombies roughly two years ago. So, It’s not surprising to hear Olsen say she can’t remember her work on the animated series, particularly if Scarlet Witch doesn’t have a large role in the show.
Regardless, fans are excited to see Scarlet Witch return. While the main version of the character was last seen sacrificing herself at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, MCU projects that make use of the multiverse like Marvel Zombies allows Marvel Studios to bring back the character without settling the main version’s fate just yet. Of course, many fans want the Scarlet Witch they’ve come to love in the main MCU to return. For now, Marzel Zombies must be sufficient.
Marvel Zombies is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ on October 3, 2025, on Disney Plus.
