Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 gives players a decent amount of choice when it comes to their weapons. Swords, Shields, Ranged Weapons, Heavy Weapons, and Polearms, all come with their own weapon categories with separate skill trees. Each weapon type is adept at dealing a certain type of damage, or best used against certain opponents.

Polearms are unique in two significant ways. First, they’re all two-handed weapons, so they can’t be used with a shield. Second, they are (mostly) capable of dealing all three types of damage, making them highly versatile in combat. However, this versatility is balanced by polearms being quite cumbersome to use until the player has some moderate experience and skill. These are the best polearms that players can purchase, find, or craft in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.

Morgenstern

With Morgenstern’s imposing looks, players could be forgiven for thinking this is a two-handed version of the heavy Club weapons. The spiked monstrosity counts as a polearm, though. Morgenstern can deal blunt and slashing damage when swung, and stabbing damage with its spear-like tip. It does a lot of blunt damage for this category of weapon, and has good penetration with stabs, but its stats are average compared to the overall damage of stronger polearms.

Players can buy a Glaive from the carpenter in Troskowitz, or blacksmiths like Radovan and Osina.

The Voulge is almost identical to the Bardiche, except in looks. The stats are the same for damage and defense, so the only difference is the flat, spiked blade on the Voulge versus the elongated, curved blade of the Bardiche. It’s purely an aesthetic choice for the player, as these weapons handle the same.

Balshanka

The Balshanka is the only unique polearm in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. The weapon has the iconic Halberd look, with an axe blade on one side of its head, a hammer on the other, and a long spike protruding from the tip. The Balshanka is great for slashing, stabbing, and battering foes. Players can find the Balshanka during the side quest Bellatores, leaning up against a wagon. To start the quest, players first have to find Bylany in the Kuttenberg region, and speak to an NPC there called Jan Posy of Zimburg.

Guisarme

The Guisarme has a wicked design, even by medieval standards. The curved and hooked bladed end is as effective at piercing armor as it is at ripping flesh. In medieval warfare, these weapons were often used against cavalry charges to deal devastating wounds to horses and riders alike. In-game, the Guisarme has some of the highest stats for a polearm weapon. It’s highly effective against armored foes, able to both pierce and crush armor with stab and blunt damage. Guisarmes will show up as loot in chests in a number of areas, but players can purchase one from the blacksmith in Sigismund’s Camp if they’re having trouble finding one.

Players might be expecting the unique Balshanka to have the highest stats for a polearm, but the humble unnamed Poleaxe of the same design actually beats it at max quality level. This requires players to be a high-level smith with the Martin’s Secret perk, as only Henry can create a Poleaxe of this quality. The Poleaxe is a regular polearm weapon that will show up as chest loot in many places in the Kuttenberg region, including in Suchdol. With unbeatable damage coverage across all three types, the Poleaxe is the most versatile weapon in the game.
