Summary

  • Marvel Rivals will reportedly add the ability for players to swap chrono tokens for units.
  • A usually reliable leaker has revealed currency exchange details that will hopefully be revealed soon.
  • Leftover chrono tokens currently go to waste if you have completed the battle pass.

Two and a half months in and so far, NetEase has barely put a foot wrong with Marvel Rivals. The hero shooter has attracted a massive player base and managed to avoid a steep drop-off so far, and a commitment to a steady flow of new characters has fans excited about who’s to come. One of the only complaints so far has been the handling of Chrono Tokens, and a new leak suggests even that is about to be rectified.

Starting this season, any Chrono Tokens you have left over once your battle pass is complete can be exchanged for units. That’s according to Rivals leaker X0X_ LEAK which has been one of the go-to accounts for accurate unrevealed information about the fledgling live service game.

Exactly how this will work hasn’t been made clear, however, the leaker does note that the exchange process will seemingly only be available once the battle pass is complete. Chrono Tokens are the purple currency on Marvel Rivals that can be used to unlock cosmetic items in the battle pass. However, in season zero, there were a lot more tokens up for grabs than there were battle pass items to spend them on.

Marvel Rivals Players Might Be Able To Swap Tokens For Units Soon

Finally, Something To Spend Them On Outside Of The Battle Pass

That meant all of the extra tokens you had saved up simply disappeared once season zero came to an end and season one began, something I found so annoying that I went on an extended rant about it. If the exchange leak is accurate, any leftover tokens you have at the end of the season can be swapped for the far more useful units.

Units are Rivals’ blue currency which can be used to buy alternate outfits and other cosmetic items. Giving players the chance to swap tokens for units could kill two birds with one stone. Not only will it stop unused tokens from going to waste, but it will also make skins and bundles more affordable. The additions of Luna Snow and Captain America’s new bundles, which cost more than $20 each, have reignited the discussion about Rivals charging too much for its additional cosmetics.

Rivals’ development team continues to listen to its community and react accordingly better than just about anyone on the live service landscape right now. Rumors that tokens can soon be exchanged for units come off the back of plans to drop player ranks mid-season getting scrapped within hours following backlash.
