Helldivers 2 has a dedicated modding community that has been slowly churning out mods since its launch. However, these releases may have gone unnoticed because the game does not officially support third-party mods. Hence, installing game-breaking mods to get infinite grenades or health, for example, will probably trigger Helldivers 2’s kernel-level anti-cheat and get you banned. However, not all is doom and gloom.
Most of the mods released so far are cosmetics. So, you can play as characters from other franchises, or replace weapons and armor with customized assets. Helldivers 2, though, only supports client-side mods at this time. Any cosmetic changes you make will only be visible to you or players who have also installed the same mod.
While client-side cosmetic mods are unlikely to trigger the anti-cheat, there is still a slight risk of modding Helldivers 2. Once again, no one has been banned so far, but the next anti-cheat update might change its mood. You have been warned.

No More Capes
Let Your Weapons Display Your Allegiance
Ever wonder how your armor looks from the back? The No More Capes mod does the simple job of hiding all capes in Helldivers 2. If not for the fashion statement, install the mod to stop seeing your cape bug out to become a piece of cardboard. The third-person no-cape perspective adds a freshness to each mission, almost giving the illusion of improved mobility. That said, this might not be a mod for everyone, because capes are one of the few cosmetic options you can expand with each premium Warbond release.
Hiding your cape will not result in any significant boost to your FPS.
Toggle HUD and Visor Effects
Get the Ultimate Cinematic Experience
For an action shooter like Helldivers 2, hiding the HUD would add immersion and remove clutter to focus on the swarms of enemies jumping at you from every corner of the screen. It would also let you take cleaner screenshots to show off those beautiful environments and biomes of Helldivers 2.
If that piques your interest, you can install the Toggle HUD and Visor Effects mod to disable/enable the Helldivers 2 HUD with a single key at any point during gameplay. This includes hiding the ammunition and grenade counters, the reinforcement budget, the mission status, and the mission timer. The mod also works for loading and cutscenes by removing the player icons and planet names.
The in-game Helldivers 2 settings allow you to hide certain elements such as the compass, markers, mission information, etc. There, however, is no single button to hide everything. In addition, be wary about hiding interactions because that disables prompts for Samples in the game.
First-Person Perspective
Remember to Watch Your Flank
Using the scope is as close as you can get to a first-person perspective in Helldivers 2. It is not exactly aiming down sight as in other traditional shooters. Installing the First-Person Perspective mod helps by forcing you to look from inside the helmet for better immersion.
The visor design also takes inspiration from the acclaimed Halo 3: ODST installment, so Master Chief fans can look forward to that as well.
Ultimate Performance
Break the Game
The Ultimate Performance mod boosts your frame rates by tweaking the default configuration file to disable several visual effects. You can always play Helldivers 2 at the lowest possible settings, but there will still be a few options that can only be disabled by manually editing the configuration file. You, however, can skip that process by simply installing this mod to gain a significant FPS boost in Helldivers 2.
Something else to know is that the modded file also removes the fog from planets. This helps you see better, which might as well qualify as cheating in Helldivers 2. While no player has been banned for using this mod, so far, you should probably still heed caution.
Stream Deck Profile for All Stratagems
Call in Airstrikes With a Single Tap
If you live-stream Helldivers 2, and own hardware such as the Elgato Stream Deck+ to enhance your broadcast, you will love this mod. The Stream Deck Profile mod installs icons for every stratagem in Helldivers 2, which then show up on your panel keys during missions.
You can forget about punching in each stratagem code. With the mod installed, you can just tap the relevant key on your Stream Deck to call in the stratagem.

Halo: Master Chief Mark V Armor
Boost Your Swag With the Iconic Mjolnir Suit
Speaking of Master Chief, there is a mod available that lets you wear the iconic Mark V assault armor. Pair it with the Halo 3: ODST visor mod and you will give a new meaning to the ongoing galactic war against the Automatons and Terminids.
The mod is based on the FS-05 Marksman Armor
and helmet, which can be unlocked from the default Mobilize Warbond. You need to equip it on a male body to activate the mod.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine Armor
Lead Your Team to the Slaughter
Consider installing the Space Marine mod if you missed the opportunity to grab the Death Korps of Krieg Armor in Helldivers 2. It not only mods three different variations of body armor and helmet from the Warhammer 40,000 universe, but also the Supply Pack, Jet Pack, and Shield Generator stratagems to give you a complete wardrobe makeover.
Change your body type to Brawny if the mod breaks.
Hellmarine
In the Service of Super Earth
Yet another Warhammer 40,000-inspired armor set, but with an extremely well-done Helldivers 2 design. The Hellmarine mod fulfills your wish of becoming a walking mountain of fury, especially if you are equipping the FLAM-40 Flamethrower
. Enemies will tremble at the sight of your behemoth-like armor set. The best part about this mod is that it replaces a Medic armor set for additional Stims.
The Complete Star Wars Package
In a Galaxy Far, Far Away
There are a bunch of mods that merge Helldivers 2 with the storied Star Wars franchise. Starting with the Star Wars Enemies mod, which replaces every Automaton enemy with its Star Wars equivalent. Troopers
, for example, get replaced with B1 Battle Droids, Berserkers
with DT Sentry Droids, Devastator Devastators
with Droidekas, Scout Striders
with AT-RTs, Factory Striders
with OG-9 Homing Spider Droids, etc.
The next mod is Din Djarin, which replaces the FS-05 Marksman armor and helmet to let you play as the Mandalorian. Finally, the Star Wars Ships mod replaces the Super Destroyer and Pelican-1 with a Republic Gunship. Install all three mods, and your friends might believe you are playing a new Star Wars action shooter in co-op.
Dead Space Remake Suit
Now Calling for the Plasma Cutter
The iconic engineering suits used by Isaac Clarke to beat the necromorphs in Dead Space can now be used to squash the bugs in Helldivers 2. The suit looks ripped right from the remake, featuring sharp textures with great detail. The over-the-shoulder camera angle also makes your pose uncannily similar to the one in Dead Space.
The Dead Space Remake Suit mod bundles two variations, so you can choose either the default (clean) version or the damaged (burned) one. Note that the mod replaces the B-01 Tactical armor and helmet, and can only be used on a muscular physique. This is one of the more high-quality mods you can try out today in Helldivers 2.
Helldivas
The Maidens of Democracy
Helldivers 2 already has a female body type, but it might not be as lean (and curvy) for some players. If you believe that curves are necessary for winning the Great Galactic War, look no further. The Helldivas mod prides itself on prioritizing fashion over function.
Doom Descent Music
Wait for the Heavy Metal Drop
The Doom Descent Music mod, as the name suggests, replaces the default loading theme with the “Only Thing They Fear Is You” soundtrack from Doom Eternal. Mick Gordon is an artist when it comes to creating music that raises your adrenaline, so he would be proud to see his work highlight your descent into a Terminid or Automaton-infested planet.

Heavy armor in Helldivers 2 offers extra protection and unique appearances. Some are better than others thanks to their passive perks.
Better Aim Reticles
Redesigned for Precision
The default crosshair of Helldivers 2 often blends into environments, making it difficult to track and for players to control their recoil. The Better Aim Reticles (BAR) mod addresses this problem by replacing the default crosshair with custom-made reticles to facilitate easy tracking and precision. You get over a dozen different reticle designs to choose from. Feel free to experiment with each one until you find a reticle you are most comfortable with.
Better Map Markers
Redesigned for Clarity
Coming from the same BAR modder, the Better Map Markers mod was created to address the inaccuracies of Helldivers 2’s default map and compass markers. The original markers often obscure key details, making it harder to identify terrain, structures, and points of interest. This mod introduces a set of custom-designed markers that enhance clarity and ensure precise navigation.
Maxwell Portable Hellbomb
Please Watch My Cat for 10 Seconds
This is easily one of the most hilarious mods in Helldivers 2. Instead of carrying around the new B-100 Portable Hellbomb, the Maxwell Portable Hellbomb mod lets you carry Maxwell, the cat. The modder kindly asks that you take good care of him. Your enemies might be tempted to do the same, right up until he detonates in a nuclear blast 10 seconds later.
Heavy Units Remastered
Hear Them Coming From a Mile
The Heavy Units Remastered mod enhances the audio of Helldivers 2’s heaviest enemies, making their footsteps, attacks, and special effects more distinct. It is easy to miss the sound of approaching heavy units in the heat of battle, as their audio often gets drowned out by explosions and gunfire. This mod fully remasters and amplifies Automaton Tanks, Hulks, and Factory Striders, making their presence impossible to ignore. Footsteps and voices are clearer, terrain-based treads and stomps are more audible, and environmental effects have been fine-tuned. Bile Titans, Impalers, and Harvesters have also been updated, with optional “Loud” files available for those who want an ear-shattering experience.
Railgun Max Charge Warning Sound
Never Overcharge Again
The Railgun is a devastating weapon in Helldivers 2 as long as you do not blow yourself up by overcharging it. While players can monitor the charge meter to avoid crossing the critical threshold, the Railgun Max Charge Warning Sound mod makes it even easier. This mod adds a loud beeping sound just before the weapon overloads, giving you a clear warning and letting you unleash back-to-back max-charged shots without the risk of self-destruction.
