Avowed is a very ambitious fantasy game, with over 20 hours of content to playthrough. Despite its open-world nature encouraging you to explore, you may find yourself on the lookout for another game you will enjoy. While there’s nothing exactly like Avowed on the market, there are definitely things that can get close.

M for Mature: Use of Alcohol, Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Sexual Themes
Avowed has commonly been described as ‘Skyrim, but with guns.’ so it makes sense that if you liked Avowed, you would probably like playing Skyrim. In many ways, the gameplay is similar, promoting a first-person viewpoint as you explore and fight.
You also happen to be a “chosen one” in Skyrim, though without much sense of purpose or what that really means for you. While the graphics might not be as good as they are in Avowed, with a few mods, you can, generally, improve things so that Skyrim can actually rival modern-day graphics.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard
60+ Hours
While not all Dragon Age fans love the Veilguard, if you haven’t played Dragon Age before, you may find it to be a really fun fantasy game. With a character creator that rivals Avowed’s, you can create your perfect character to take on the fantastical world that awaits you.
There are no guns in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, but the fun and comprehensive fighting mechanics more than makeup for that as you take on a plague that is infecting the world and threatening to overtake all of civilization.

Also published by Obsidian Entertainment, the Outer Worlds feels just as bright and colorful at times as Avowed. In the Outerworlds, you explore a space colony, deciding its future through the actions you take.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines
20+ Hours
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines is a cult classic RPG with a story that still lives up to modern expectations (even if the graphics may not). This dark and gritty story throws you into Los Angeles and its vampiric underworld, with its compelling characters and immersive quests.
You develop your abilities as you play, becoming more powerful, just like how the Godlike taps into their own abilities and truly comes into themselves in Avowed. Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines also doesn’t require an extensive time investment, making it a friendly game for people who can’t play for longer periods of time.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance
80+ Hours
Kingdom Come: Deliverance may not be a fantasy game, but it is set in a medieval world (something that most fantasy games tend to do as well). This game is also a story-driven RPG, allowing you to explore an open world as you work to avenge your parent’s deaths.

Greedfall
40+ Hours
Greedfall is a fantasy game with guns, yes, but it also explores the complexities of colonialism – something that Avowed begins to do in its own story. It regularly throws players into morally ambiguous situations that really help you to feel like you are part of the world and that you’re making an impact.
Despite its fantasy nature, in some ways, Greedfall does feel a lot more grounded than Avowed, so if you’re looking for a “grounded” fantasy world, then Greedfall is the way to go.

Borderlands 3
40+ Hours
Borderlands 3 is widely hailed as one of the best Borderlands games, with a gripping story and fun mechanics. It often dips its toes into an almost fantasy-like feeling and environment without entirely leaning into a fantasy world.
If you enjoyed using the guns in Avowed and you’d like to get more of a fantasy feeling (but with guns), then Borderlands 3 is a great option to try out. With plenty to shoot and plenty to loot, you may just find yourself completely losing track of time.

Pillars Of Eternity
60+ Hours

In Pillars of Eternity, every choice you make matters, and you have to be careful to keep your reputation in check lest you face dire consequences. If you loved being a Godlike in Avowed, you may just love being a Godlike in Pillars of Eternity.
