Nintendo Fan Builds Table in Shape of Switch Console

With the release of the next Nintendo console just around the corner, players are sharing some of their favorite Nintendo Switch memorabilia, including one fan who showcased their custom-built gaming table designed after the beloved handheld system. The Nintendo Switch is currently the third highest-selling video game console of all time, so it should come as no surprise that fans are happy to display their love of the iconic hardware in unique ways.

Originally released in March 2017, the Nintendo Switch gaming console was met with massive critical and commercial success. The company’s previous system, the Wii U, was a financial letdown, and audiences were delighted by the major changes brought with the Switch, namely the dual handheld and docked gameplay functionality. Nintendo fan No_Bid_491 shared a series of photos of a digital gaming table that they redesigned to look like a Nintendo Switch console, bringing the distinct hardware to life in a jaw-dropping way. According to user, they took an infinity gaming table meant for digital board games and wrapped it with a fully custom casing to mimic the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con controllers. It took roughly three days to build the main body of the casing and over a month for painting, sanding, and detailing. Interior shelves double as analog amplifiers for the digital table’s speakers, and built-in adaptive lighting powered by a cable running through one of the legs allows the underside of the Nintendo Switch table to glow. They’re waiting to apply a tinted glass cover over the digital screen for extra scratch protection and to bring the screen and “Joy-Cons” to an even height for a super-realistic giant Nintendo Switch appearance.

Fellow fans were amazed by the incredible design, with many praising the creator for the meticulous craftsmanship needed to bring such a design to life. Some lamented that the buttons on the Joy-Con sections were purely aesthetic instead of functional, though others teased that the creator was better off using a more practical controller anyway. While the custom table can’t actually play any Nintendo Switch video games, the community collectively agreed that it does make for an amazing one-of-a-kind piece for a video game fan.
