You may think you have a plan while loading into a mission, but we all know the plan goes out the window right as that first Automaton dropship arrives in Helldivers 2. Improvising and getting yourself out of a “cinematic” situation is a major part of what makes the game so much fun, and Arrowhead finds new ways of adding to it with every update.

Helldivers 2 Is Getting A Movie, Media Is A Flat Circle

The recent Servants of Freedom warbond introduced the highly requested portable hellbomb. Normal Helldivers would use this explosive backpack to run into a hotzone, drop it, and escape before the blast gets them, or sacrifice themselves in the name of freedom. However, Helldivers 2 veterans have figured out a way to launch the portable Hellbomb onto a target from a safe distance away.
A Portable Hellbomb Launcher?
Leave it to the Helldivers 2 community to take two of the games most powerful stratagems and combine it into a freedom-delivering medieval siege weapon. Spotted on the Helldivers subreddit, this post by Fair-Albatross8520 shows how you can launch the portable hellbomb using the E/AT-12 Anti-Tank Emplacement.
You need to first call in and wear the portable hellbomb, after which you call in the AT Emplacement and drop the primed hellbomb right in the centre of the beacon. The way the AT Emplacement’s cannon unfurls will result in your portable Hellbomb getting catapulted towards the direction it is pointed in. Of course, timing and precision placing is key, or else you’ll be adding to the bloopers reel.
Improvisation is the key to victory, and this tactic proves that you don’t need to run into an enemy base to hellbomb it off the map. If you manage to pull it off, you even have a conveniently placed AT Emplacement to pick off any stragglers. The efficiency of this maneuver surely deserves a commendation from Super Earth.
Along with the portable hellbomb, the Servants of Freedom warbond introduced some great new armor sets, a buffed out version of the Sickle, a seeker mine that can be used like a drone swarm, and a grenade launcher pistol.
