With that said, not all weapons are as effective in their peak situation as others. Apart from that, there are weapons that can be extremely useful in a variety of different situations, making them much more versatile options in a loadout than some of the others. If you want a leg up on the enemies, taking these into the fight will give it to you.

Berthier 1916
The Most Powerful Rifle
The Berthier 1916 is the most powerful rifle that you can bring in a loadout, causing the most damage to enemies compared to everything else, at 145 HP per shot. This means more or less any enemy that you fire upon and hit is going to drop, unless you happen to hit them in a non-vital area.
This does not mean that it’s got an advantage over other rifles in every situation. For one, it does not have the most effective range, being beaten out by both two other rifles. It’s also got a fairly low RPM (rounds-per-minute), meaning if you miss your shot, you may not get a chance to follow it up before the enemy makes it into cover.
7
MAS 44
Versatile, And A Quick Rate Of Fire
The MAS 44 is a very different kind of rifle than the more traditional sniper rifle, which is slower-firing and higher-damage. Instead, the MAS has an extremely high rate of fire of multiple shots-per-second and a semi-auto firing mode. It does, however, have lower power than many other rifles, at only 105 HP per shot.
This rifle may not always guarantee a one-shot kill in a typical sniping situation like many others, but it’s a lot more versatile. This can still be used effectively at range, but it’s also extremely effective at mid-and-close range, making it one of the rare rifles that’s easy to use in that situation.

ZK-420S
Best Closer Range Rifle
If the MAS 44 is capable of holding its own in mid-to-close-range, the ZK-420S specializes in it. It has the highest default fire rate of any weapon in the game, along with extremely consistent stability, a snappy time-to-aim and equip time and a low audible range.

Here are all the ways you can distract enemies in Sniper Elite: Resistance.
Where the ZK lacks is in power, and it lacks it quite a bit. It does a record-low 79 HP in damage per shot, making it non-lethal in one shot to many enemies on a body shot, or on a limb shot. It can, however, still take a Nazi down in one shot to the head, particularly if you manage to hit below the helmet.

Lee NO.4
Best Rifle For Most Situations
The Lee NO. 4 is, statistically, more than likely the best rifle in the game. It can do a wide number of things competitively with the best niche rifles: it has the highest default effective range, great muzzle velocity, a great RPM for a bolt-action weapon, a big magazine, and a low audible range.
By default, the Lee NO. 4 is usable in the longest ranges you’re going to find, as well as a viable choice for someone consistently hitting their shots in the closer-medium ranges, too. When combined with some great attachments, like the 20-round magazine and a good suppressor, this weapon is going to be your best Nazi-killing friend.
4
Sig MKMS
An Unmatched Bullet Hose
When it comes to secondary weapons, most people are going to want something that’s good in an emergency. Usually, if things are going as expected, you’ll be using your rifle or your pistol, depending on your range. A secondary weapon comes out when you’re spotted, and in a firefight.
The Sig MKMS is undoubtedly capable of spitting out more damage in a short amount of time than any other secondary weapon in the game. It has an absurdly high RPM of 900 and an okay magazine size, making it extremely formidable in close-range.
3
Trench Gun
The One Shotgun
There is exactly one shotgun that you can bring with you in your loadout in Sniper Elite: Resistance, and the Trench Gun is it. It’s a pump-action weapon capable of dealing devastating damage in a single shot, putting down Nazis that get into your space with a quickness.

Sniper Elite: Resistance – How To Unlock All Weapons
A sniper is only as good as their rifle, so why not unlock them all?
It also has a surprisingly decent firing rate at almost one-shot-per-second. This keeps it from being terribly punishing if you miss your target, but does still make it something that can be difficult to wield when attacked by multiple enemies at once.
2
Welrod
The Stealthiest Option
Pistols in Sniper Elite can often be used just as much as rifles, and for a similar reason: killing Nazis without anyone being the wiser for it. While most pistols are capable of accomplishing this job, none are more adept at it than the Welrod.
The Welrod has an extremely low fire rate, with nearly two seconds in between every shot. But to make up for that, it has a default audible range of only 12 meters, making it the quietest default weapon available. Provided you can hit your shots, able to pin that bullet right underneath a Nazi helmet, this weapon is going to score you a ton of Ghost Kills.
1
Nagant M1985
Pack A Punch
On the other end of the spectrum from a stealthy pistol, the Nagant M1985 has one job, and that’s putting Nazis in the ground with one trigger pull. And it’s a job that the Nagant excels at, with more damage than even many rifles, per shot.
The Nagant is not a particularly quiet weapon, though you can equip a suppressor on it. For close-quarters stealth play, there are better options. But for loud and bombastic close-range combat, the Nagant will serve you well.
