The combat can be frustrating at times in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Since you need to manage your health, stamina, and the gear you’re using, some fights can be really tough. Late in the game, you come face to face with Erik for a final time. Set up like a boss fight, it’s one of the toughest combat encounters in the game.

When Does Kingdom Come: Deliverance Take Place?

Ever wonder exactly when and where Kingdom Come Deliverance takes place? Here’s what you want to know.

Unlike fights against standard guards and bandits, duels take a lot longer. Enemies are heavily armoured and have a lot of health. That’s the case in the fight against Erik too. You’ll need to keep chipping away at his health to beat him.

How To Prepare For The Fight With Erik

The biggest frustration with the fight against Erik is that you’re not really given any chance to prepare. Since it’s part of the conclusion to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s story, you don’t have access to the open world for the three quests before this one.

You’re confined to the fortress, where there are no shops, no services, and no resources to gather. You need to have carried enough forward from when you hit the ‘crucial point’ notification before the Oratores quest began.

All you can do is equip any potions you have to your pouch so that you can use them during the fight against Erik, or make sure your best armour is equipped. You can’t change your armour once the fight starts, so be kitted out properly before it begins.

If you want to reload a save to prepare your gear once more, you need to reload during the Oratores quest, which will see you lose about two hours of progress.

How To Beat Erik

To beat Erik, you need to approach the fight a little differently to how you normally would. First of all, stay on the defensive at all times. Don’t initiate attacks because Erik will almost always block and counter.

Instead, wait for him to attack and Perfect Block when the green shield appears, following it up by an attack when the blue swords icon appears. It won’t damage him every time, but it will regularly. If you are comfortable with the Master Strike attack, use that as much as you can.

You need to keep an eye on your stamina meter too, as Henry will attack too slowly when he gets tired and Erik will take advantage. Erik’s attacks also pack a punch, so you’ll take a lot of damage if you take more than one hit in quick succession.

You will also need to hit Erik frequently to do significant damage. His stamina bar essentially acts as a health bar, so you need to whittle it down to do a lot of damage. Just parry his attacks without attacking back to build your own stamina and reduce his.

If you’ve unlocked the Battle Cry perk, talk to Erik whenever you can during the fight and select Battle Cry. That will give you a damage boost for a few seconds.

Once you can see blood on Erik’s armour, particularly around his neck, you’ll be getting close to beating him. He’ll become easier to counter, but don’t get cocky and attack too much. He can still hit you hard.

If you’re patient and attack only when you have a real opening, you should eventually beat Erik. Don’t be too disheartened if it takes a few tries, as it took us a couple of hours to finally beat him.
