Unicorn Whale Technology Limited has unveiled their latest anime-style next-gen RPG, Enigma of Sépia, set to launch on both Android and iOS on February 14, 2025. With pre-registration now open, the game is creating a lot of buzz for featuring female versions of popular male anime characters, like Zoro, Denji, and more, without getting an official license for them.

Enigma of Sépia is a next-gen RPG featuring impressive 3D graphics with an epic worldview set in the Void City. In this game, you play as a Traveler, gathering Soul Fruits to defeat the avatars of Sépia, the once goddess of beauty, to prevent the world from being destroyed.
The current buzz surrounding the game is not because of its gameplay or the storyline, but because of its characters. The game showcases various female characters, with unique abilities and personalities, who you can bond with and fight alongside in battles. However, the surprising part is how closely these characters resemble popular male anime characters. The funniest part is that the devs are not trying to hide this at all.

It features characters like Denise, based on Denji from Chainsaw Man, Nora Zorana, based on Rononoa Zoro from One Piece, Chronis with Star Platinum, based on Jotaro Kujo from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Satoria, based on Satoru Goju from Jujutsu Kaisen, Eclipsea, based on Itachi Uchiha and Sylphyra based on Sasuke from Naruto, as well as other franchises like Dragon Ball, Attack on Titan, Fullmetal Alchemist, Sword Art Online, and Evangelion, and more.
I don’t how they are pulling it off, but it is quite interesting to see how things go. However, if things work out, I am definitely trying this game, especially as an Anime fan, and because of the One-Piece-inspired characters.
Coming to the gameplay, you can upgrade any hero to SSR or even SP, which is a nice feature. Moreover, there are hundreds of builds to choose from, offering perfectly balanced gameplay, and the diverse roster is great too, complemented by stunning visuals.
