When you try to lockpick something in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, you’ll be greeted with a screen depicting the circular lock. There’s a focus point you can move around the lock, and a button to begin rotating the lock.
You have to move the focus point to the sweet spot, in which it will enlargen when close and turn gold when in the right area. You’ll need to keep control of this focus point to keep it in the right position while you then rotate the lock.
The lock will only rotate when the focus point is in the right spot. Holding rotate otherwise will deteriorate the lockpick.
If you manage to keep it in the right position and rotate the lock around to where it needs to be, the lockpicking will be successful.
Just note that you don’t want to be seen trying to lockpick something, and that lockpicks breaking will make a noise, causing nearby people to investigate if they hear it.
Lock Difficulties, Explained
When looking at something that can be lockpicked, it will display the difficulty of the lock, varying from Very Easy, Easy, Medium, Hard, and Very Hard.

The higher the difficulty, the further you’ll need to rotate the lock as well, with the hardest needing to be turned a full 360 degrees.

There are a few ways to make picking locks easier in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, and depending on how much time you put into the skill, you might need an extra edge.
You can drink a potion of Quickfinger to give you a boost in Thievery, and depending on your level and the strength of the potion, this might be enough to give you the edge to pick more difficult locks.

The easiest way is to purchase them from blacksmiths, who generally always have a good number of them available. This can amount to quite a bit of groschen, however, so might not be feasible too early on.
You can also get lockpicks from smithing weapons and tools at the forge, and with the Locksmith skill, you’ll yield even more. Smithing can be a great way to earn some money early on, and with the extra lockpicks from doing so, is a great method for aspiring lockpickers.
