Marvel’s Spider-Man 2: Every Gadget In The Game, Ranked
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 introduces five cool gadgets players can use to their advantage in combat. Here they are, ranked by utility.
While Miles Morales has 8 abilities, only 4 can be equipped at once, so what are the best Miles Morales abilities in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and which of them are worth using to make the criminals of New York City fear the punch and web of the new Spider-Man?
8
Venom Jump
Apply Venom Stun While Lifting Enemies Upward
- Lifts nearby enemies into the air and applies Venom Stun to them.
- Fire with L1+X
- How to Get: Unlocks via One Thing At A Time (mission)
If players are ever surrounded by too many enemies, and it seems like this Spider-Man has bitten off more than he can chew, then try out the Venom Jump. This ability isn’t just great for traversing New York City for high-speed jumps, but also for how it can lift nearby enemies up into the air to suspend them momentarily, opening them up to an attack from web-shooters and fists galore.
Venom Jump is great at crowd control, and the fact that multiple smaller enemies can be lifted into the air so that Spider-Man can send them back down webbed up, or keep them in the air to beat on them, proves that Miles has powers that can compete with the main Spider-Man.
7
Venom Punch
Use a Bioelectrical Punch to Smash Enemies
- A devastating bioelectric punch. Applies Venom Stun to the primary target and enemies behind them.
- Fire with L1+Square
- How to Get: Unlocks via Surface Tension (mission)
If Miles wants to become the one-punch-man, then Venom Punch is the ability to use here, as it will show Miles dishing out a lethal punch that will send the opponent flying backward. It’s fast to use with its small charge-up time, and the opponent that’s been hit is definitely going to feel it in the morning, he might even have to feel it all day if he’s punched into a wall and then webbed up to become subdued and out for the count.
The Venom Punch is a fun attack to start with, but punching just one enemy with the hopes that more foes are directly behind him, might have some players wishing for something with more power with an area-of-effect, which is exactly why this doesn’t rank higher.
6
Venom Dash
Pounce on Enemies and Throw Them Away
- Dash to an enemy and then hurl them away with a burst of Venom.
- Fire with L1+Triangle
- How to Get: Unlocks via One Thing At A Time (mission)
One of Miles’ more simple attacks is the Venom Dash, which sees him practically pounce on an enemy just to hurl them across the room with his super strength. Enemies that are grabbed by Miles will be singled out, and while that’s not necessarily a great idea for large groups of enemies, it’s still fun to throw someone as if they are weightless, especially when crashing into a wall might knock them out.

The 7 Best Suits Featured In Spider-Man 2
Insomniac Games has yet to reveal a full list of the available suits in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2; here are the best ones that have been unveiled so far.
It’s a decent enough ability for throwing enemies far away so that they aren’t too much of a bother while Miles fights off more dangerous and larger foes, but as an attack that focuses on just one enemy at a time, it might be best to keep this as a reserve.
5
Reverse Flux
Pull Enemies Inward for a Mass Attack
- Release an Evolved Venom energy pulse that pulls enemies in.
- Fire with L1+Circle
- How to Get: Unlocks via No Escape (mission)
Thanks to the synergy with Martin Li, Miles Morales’ Venom attacks just got a whole lot stronger, starting with Reverse Flux. Miles’ body surges with an electric output that seeks enemies pulled towards him, only to be knocked back from an attack that will certainly make it so that they won’t want to get back up.
It’s a decent attack for dealing with enemies with weapons and fists, as it will keep them at bay while Miles provides more attacks with webs and fists. Reverse Flux is quick, hard-hitting, and very satisfying to use as it pulls enemies into Miles’ own gravity field for some more knuckle sandwiches.
4
Galvanize
Launch Enemies Unward to Cause Shock and Airborne Strikes
- Launch an enemy, shocking them and nearby enemies. Attack airborne enemy to release more lightning strikes.
- Fire with L1+X
- How to Get: Unlocks via Set Things Right (mission)
If players ever wanted to commit to a lethal uppercut, then the Galvanize ability is the one for them. This ability will have Miles supercharge his fist to give a mean uppercut that sends the opponent into the air, protruding with an electrical current that will shock them and any enemy that seems to be nearby.
Galvanise is a great ability for players who want to single out someone to punch and kick with some air time, as the ability will momentarily suspend them in the air so Spidey can juggle them, and each punch after shoots out more lightning strikes to further damage the enemies below, so it’s a decent enough crowd control attack.
3
Thunder Burst
Teleport to Targets to Knock Them Down
- Instantly reach distant targets and land with a burst of Evolved venom that knocks down a group of enemies.
- Fire with L1+Triangle
- How to Get: Unlocks via Master Illusionist (mission)
When an enemy is just out of reach, and webbing isn’t an option, try to go in on the offensive with a fast decision from the Thunder Burst, which will see Miles practically teleport directly in front (or behind) his enemy to unleash a flurry of brutal lightning-enhanced punches.

Every Ability For Peter Parker In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Ranked
As Peter Parker fights his way through the crime wave of New York City in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, he’s going to need the best abilities to back him up.
Those within the teleport range will be knocked down, allowing Miles to web them up before they can even register what just happened. Meanwhile, the prime target Miles teleports to gets a nasty set of voltage running through him, and the crowd control potential of this ability, mixed with the decent area-of-effect damage, makes it a must-have.
2
Chain Lightning
Use a Lightning Attack That Chains Damage to Multiple Enemies
- Target an enemy with a bolt of lightning that chains to two more enemies.
- Fire with L1+Square
- How to Get: Unlocks via One Thing At A Time (mission)
Unleash a near-deadly blast of electricity into enemies with Miles Morales’ Chain Lightning ability, which will single out a target to throw electricity into them like Emperor Palpatine. That lightning will always chain to two or more enemies, allowing for a fast attack that will damage multiple enemies.
Thanks to how fast the Chain Lightning attack is, players can effectively use it to jump straight into another combo while enemies are still staggered from a blast that might have just stopped their hearts. Chain Lightning has great synergy, and its use against multiple enemies helps it to stand out.
1
Venom Smash
A Fierce Ground Pound for an Area-of-Effect Attack
- Smash down to the ground with a Venom Powered punch, applying Venom Stun to enemies nearby and flinging them back.
- Fire with L1+Triangle
- How to Get: Unlocks via One Thing At A Time (mission)
When things are getting a tad too hairy out there, try and vent that frustration with a dirty punch to the ground, aided by a Venom-powered ability of course. With the Venom Smash ability, Miles will punch the floor, releasing enough energy to stun enemies and send them flying backward. This is a great opportunity to get on the offensive, or simply admire the damage dealt by this younger Spider.
With the Venom Smash, players have a quick opportunity to web up their foes before they can get back up off the ground, and it’s a great way to subdue and suspend enemies thanks to its area-of-effect ability, crowd control potential, and the fact it can damage multiple enemies at once.
