We have entered 2025, and if you are a keen observer, I’m pretty sure you will be curious about the 2025 results too. Well, for that very reason, I’m coming with this article. Overall, January 2025 was a remarkable month for mobile gaming, with both new and familiar titles making an impact on the charts. Block Blast led in downloads, while Honor of Kings continued to dominate revenue. Other games, such as Roblox, Subway Surfers, and Pokémon TCG Pocket, also made strong showings in different categories. Let’s take a closer look at the top-performing mobile games of the month.
Top Mobile Games by Downloads for January 2025
Downloads are a metric where we can easily notice a lot of differences each month. This first month of the year, I would say when you compare the 2024 chart, you see a few usuals, but some of them have sneaked into the mix, and that is what surprised me.
Block Blast, which was always around the top spots has taken the top spot in downloads, accumulating an impressive 31.2 million count. Coming in second was Roblox, with 22.5 million downloads, which wasn’t surprising again.

However, Cat Chaos: Prankster, a relatively new entrant, secured third place with 18.4 million downloads. From the overviews, I see there isn’t anything special with its art, but maybe the features of the game are considered to be fun enough. The excitement to see what happens next month is something I’ll be keeping a keen eye on. Just missing out on the top 10 was Squid Game: Unleashed.
On the bank of a massive Season 2 success of Netflix‘s TV Series, the game also rode the hype wave garnering good reviews. Other notable mentions include Subway Surfers (14.6 million), Free Fire (14 million), and 8 Ball Pool (11.1 million), all maintaining strong momentum. Township and Pokémon TCG Pocket made it into the top 15 with 9.6 million downloads each, although a noticeable dip in its downloads was noticed.
Top Mobile Games by Revenue for January 2025
While downloads indicate popularity, revenue figures highlight financial success. Honor of Kings, although finding a spot in the downloads chart, continued its dominance, generating an astonishing $185.2 million in January 2025 alone. I feel this is largely thanks to its strong player base in China, while the global market isn’t a dud either. Expecting it to clinch the top spot in 2025 too, until a big gun comes firing.

Following closely was Last War: Survival, which brought in $143.4 million, as Royal Match, which ended the third-highest-grossing game last year, claimed third place with $139.3 million, continuing its success in the puzzle game genre. PUBG Mobile ($129.4 million) and Roblox ($114.3 million) were the usual suspects and didn’t surprise any, joined by Genshin Impact ($65.5 million).
Other notable top earners include casual strategy titles Whiteout Survival ($126.9 million), MONOPOLY GO! ($107.6 million), Candy Crush Saga ($98.1 million) and Coin Master ($65.1 million) which had impressive numbers as well. Pokémon TCG Pocket secured a strong position at $54.9 million, showing that its launch in late 2024 continues to generate steady revenue.
