Last year, both Gen G and DRX qualified for VALORANT Champions 2024. Due to this, Gen G and DRX received a bye to the second round of VCT Pacific Kickoff 2025. During this tournament, Gen G had its worst run in any international tournament during the 2024 season. Last year, Gen G finished second at VALORANT Masters Madrid and won VALORANT Masters Shanghai. Going into VALORANT Champions 2024, they were the favorites to win. Sadly, they couldn’t leave the Swiss stage, finishing in 12th position.

During 2024, DRX had a year of two halves. The first half was disappointing. They couldn’t qualify for any international event because they finished fourth in the VCT Pacific Kickoff and Stage One 2024. Thus, they changed mid-season to add some rookies to their team, like Flashback, who helped DRX finish second during VCT Pacific Stage Two. DRX then went on to finish fifth during VALORANT Champions 2024.

This season, both DRX and Gen G won their first game in the tournament. These wins weren’t easy for either team, as both matches went to the final map. In their game against RRQ, Gen G had to complete the reverse sweep to secure the win.

DRX had faced off against the newly promoted Nongshim RedForce. The new signing free1ng won by playing the new agent Tejo during this match. He ended the series with a KDA of 58/44/13, an ADR of 151, and a headshot accuracy of 31%.

Series Breakdown

Things would have been drastically different if this was the first match between the two teams. Both teams showed quite a few weaknesses during their first match. In the first map, Gen G could only win 1 round of attack. This lack of attacking firepower could be noticed throughout the rest of the series.

To call a definite winner of this matchup will be quite challenging. Both teams have some of the best players within the region. At the same time, Gen G has proved they can claw their way back when the chips are down. The last time these two teams faced off was during the SOOP Valorant League during the 2024 VALORANT off-season. During that match, Gen G defeated DRX 2-0. DRX will win this match of VCT Pacific Kickoff with a scoreline of 2-1.
