Dynasty Warriors: Origins Player Counts Put The Series To Shame
Dynasty Warriors: Origins serves as a soft reset for the series, with the game dropping its numbered titling convention in order to take it back to its roots. So far, it seems like a tactic that has worked.
Over the weekend, Origins hit a peak concurrent player count of 69,483, according to SteamDB, a number that is wholly impressive for a single-player title. When taken in the context of the wider Dynasty Warriors series, though, things look even better for Origins.
Although only a handful of Dynasty Warriors games have been released on Steam, Dynasty Warriors: Origins eclipses them all. Up until Origins’ 69,000 peak, the series’ highest concurrent player count was achieved by the game’s demo, at 10,598, and before that, it was Dynasty Warriors 9: Xtreme Legends Complete Edition’s 3,878 players that took the crown. That means that Origins has had approximately a 20x higher player count than any other game in the series, at least on Steam.
It’s hard to know how other games would have performed on the Valve-owned platform, given that only Dynasty Warriors 7 onwards have been released on there, but with the reception of previous games compared to this one, it’s difficult to see any of them doing better.
