Recently, Overwatch 2 announced its return to China. The game will fully relaunch on February 19, but a technical test that ran from January 8 through 15 gave fans the chance to try out most of the content they missed, including Overwatch: Classic and all six heroes that have been released since the servers closed down in China during Season 2.

Overwatch 2’s Extended 6v6 Playtest May Be Tipping Blizzard’s Hand Early
Blizzard has been quite forthcoming with its testing of 6v6 gameplay in Overwatch 2, and the future of this brand of gameplay already seems clear.
Now that the technical test has concluded, Overwatch 2 has revealed some of the exciting stuff Chinese players can look forward to. According to a message from Overwatch 2 game director Aaron Keller on Xiaohongshu, also known as RedNote, a multi-week Return to China celebration will include many of the most popular in-game events and rewards fans have missed over the last two years. Additionally, all Chinese players will be able to earn Battle Pass rewards from Season 1 and 2 ahead of the game’s relaunch, and Seasons 3 through 9 via in-game events after the game is available again.
Chinese Mythology – Theme for Overwatch 2 Season 15?
Keller also revealed that Overwatch 2 Season 15 would contain skin bundles inspired by Chinese mythology. At present, it is unclear if the skins will be existing ones or completely new, if they will be exclusive to China, or if they could possibly tie into a larger Chinese mythology theme for the unrevealed Season 15, like how many cosmetics from Overwatch 2 Season 14 were inspired by Norse mythology.
Luckily, fans across the globe won’t have to wait long to find out. Overwatch 2 Season 15 is set to begin on February 18, right before the official relaunch of the game in China. With just over a month until then, players can expect to start learning more about the upcoming season soon, with a full reveal likely to arrive in early February.
Beyond that, fans can play Min 1, Max 3 – the second 6v6 test in Overwatch 2 – from January 21 through February 4, with the classic 2-2-2 team composition available until then. The Lunar New Year and the Moth Meta Overwatch: Classic events are also supposed to take place before Season 15 as well, so there are a lot of things to look forward to in Overwatch 2, even before Season 15. While Chinese players may not be able to take part in these events, they can at least look forward to some special celebrations of their own soon.
