John Cena Teases New Peacemaker Season 2 Opening Credits Dance Number

Summary

  • Peacemaker season 2 will revamp the dance from season 1 in the opening credits.
  • John Cena felt more pressure to meet expectations for the new dance number.
  • How events from Peacemaker season 1 connect to the DCU’s continuity is a hot topic for fans.

The Peacemaker season 2 opening credits will revamp the famous dance number featured in the first season. Fans can’t wait to see it, and John Cena recently hyped up the new dance routine.

The Peacemaker opening credits were one of the most memorable aspects of the first season. It featured the main cast members doing a deadpan dance number to Wig Wam’s “Do You Wanna Taste It,” resulting in a slight resurgence for the Norwegian glam metal band and prompting fans to recreate the Peacemaker dance on social media. Of course, because Peacemaker season 2 will feature a cast shakeup, the dance number will need to be revised by returning choreographer Charissa Barton.

Is Robert Pattinson’s Batman Joining the DCU? Andy Muschietti Clears Up the Rumors

Robert Pattinson’s Batman joining James Gunn’s DCU is a rumor that won’t quit, but Brave and the Bold director Andy Muschietti clarified matters.

During an interview with Collider, Cena admitted he wasn’t sure Peacemaker season 1’s opening credits dance number would work while filming it. However, filming the Peacemaker season 2 opening credits dance was a different experience, as everyone involved felt pressure to live up to expectations now that they knew the first season’s number was a success. Fortunately, instead of being daunted by the pressure, the cast was excited while filming the new intro, which Cena hoped will show on screen.

Then, when it became such a part of the show, I think everybody this time was just so excited, and I really think that’s going to show. I’m very happy with it. I want to say so much more, but I’ll just say I’m very happy with it. Everyone was super enthused and also understood how important it is this time around, and I really hope that shows. I know the show is great. In my mind, the opening number is great. I hope the world agrees.

Peacemaker cast at the end of the opening

Cena said the Peacemaker season 2 dance number is a “nice” way to introduce and credit the key cast members. Still, he reminded fans that multiple people behind the camera brought the dance number to the screen. While they won’t be in front of the camera, Cena noted that these individuals deserve recognition.

It’s just a nice way to introduce everybody and also give everybody credit. I tip my hat to James Gunn. It does take a village, and gosh, we got so many heroes behind the camera. They should get a tip of the cap, too. So, it’s a great way to thank everybody for putting a whole lot of effort into making something good.

While fans are excited to see the new Peacemaker season 2 opening credits, there is far more interest in how the series connects to the DC Universe’s continuity. The Peacemaker ensemble is among the few returning characters from the defunct DC Extended Universe. However, Gunn has explained that events from Peacemaker season 1 and The Suicide Squad are only DCU canon if they are mentioned in DCU projects. Otherwise, Gunn considers Peacemaker season 1, The Suicide Squad, and all other DCEU events “bad memories” of what happened before.

For instance, Peacemaker killing Rick Flag in The Suicide Squad is DCU canon because it’s mentioned in the animated series Creatures Commandos (in which Frank Grillo voiced Rick Flag Sr.), not because it happened in The Suicide Squad. So, fans are more interested than ever to see what events from Peacemaker season 1 are still canon and how Peacemaker season 2 will affect future DCU projects. There’s still over half a year to wait, so fans must be patient.

Peacemaker season 2 is scheduled to premiere on Max in August 2025.
