Voltorb & Hisuian Voltorb Spotlight Hour

pokemon-go-spotlight-tuesday

The Pokemon GO Spotlight Hour will begin on Tuesday, January 7 2025 from 6 PM to 7 PM Local Time. With this week being Voltorb and Hisuian Voltorb, players have a lot to keep up with when it comes to trying to get a Shiny of each Pokemon during the event. Both of these Pokemon possess a great amount of benefits and can help the player out when extra damage is needed.

Since there are two Pokemon this week for the Spotlight hour, players should stock up on Pokeballs, Berries, and incense, as they will be collecting two Pokemon instead of the normal one. Each of these items can help increase the possibility of evolving and catching a shiny of these Pokemon. Players will also want to make sure they have space in their Pokemon storage as they will be catching a lot of these Pokemon and might not want to stop to transfer during the hour.

First up, Voltorb is a Pokemon found in the Pokedex as #100. This Pokemon is found within the Kanto Generation 1 and can be traded as well as transferred into Pokemon Home. The catch rewards of this Pokemon are 3 candies and 100 Stardust. Voltorb is the start of a 2-stage evolution. Voltorb can evolve into Electrode for 50 candies. With a max of 1141 CP (Combat Power), 109 Attack, and 111 Defense, this Pokemon can push out damage if needed when the player is in a pinch.

However, it is important to note that this Pokemon is an Electric-type Pokemon which means it takes increased damage from Ground-type Pokemon (160% Damage). It also takes reduced damage from Electric-type, Flying-type, and Steel-type (63% Damage). With this in mind, the best moveset for this Pokemon is Spark (Electric-type attack) and Discharge (Electric-type Attack) giving out 5.81 DPS (Damage Per Second) and 40.62 TDO (Total Damage Output). This attack can be boosted when the player is in Rainy weather conditions. There is also a blue Shiny variant of this Pokemon.

The second Pokemon for this Spotlight Hour is Hisuian Voltorb. This Pokemon is part of the Voltorb family as well, sharing the same Pokedex number as Voltorb, as Hisuian Voltorb is also #100 in the PokeDex. This Pokemon is from the Kanto Generation 1 and can be traded as well as sent to Pokemon Home Transfer as well. Hisuian Voltorb can be evolved into Hisuian Electrode for 50 candies and gives the player 3 candies with 100 Stardust upon being caught. Just like Voltorb this Pokemon has 1141 CP (Combat Power), 111 Defense, and 109 Attack. While being in the Voltorb family this Pokemon is also an Electric-Type Pokemon.

The only difference between Hisuian Voltorb and Voltorb is that this Pokemon takes damage and reduces damage from other Pokemon. Bug-type, Fire-type, Ice-type, Poison-type all give (160% Damage) while Grass-type, Steel-type, Water-type (63% Damage) and other Electric-type Pokemon give (39% Damage). The best moveset for this Pokemon is Tackle (Normal Attack) and Thunderbolt (Electric-type attack) for 5.39 DPS (Damage Per Second) while giving out 37.60 TDO (Total Damage Output). If the player is in Partly Cloudy and Rain weather, the overall damage the player gives with the weather damage bonus can be boosted. There is also a shiny version of this Pokemon; the only difference is that it has a black body instead of an orange one.
