The Best Agents To Use On Abyss In Valorant

The Best Agents To Use On Abyss In Valorant

Abyss is unlike any other Valorant map, which means choosing the right agents for it can be challenging, whether it is for your solo queue adventures or your Premier team. The verticality of this map, along with the extremely slow rotations, poses a different challenge, and you need to have the correct agents if you want to win games.

Astra

Role: Controller

Specialty: Cutting vision

Astra is one of the best controllers to pick on Abyss thanks to her ability to not only block enemy vision, but also her ability to disrupt enemy pushes with her Gravity Well and Nova Pulse. Setting these abiltiies in front of her Nebulas will punish anyone who dares to go through the smoke.

Her ability to place stars down from across the map also makes her great for lurking, which is great when done through Mid.

The most important Astra ability on Abyss is the Cosmic Divide. Placing it vertically across B effectively cuts vision from B Tower and B Link so the team can flood onto the site. You can also block vision from A Tower and A Bridge for a quick force-plant in front of A Site.

Omen

Role: Controller

Specialty: Cutting vision

Omen is another option for a controller thanks to his Shrouded Step, which can help get over sentinel setups. This will make him an effective lurker when trips and traps are left unwatched.

Omen can also place his smokes from a short distance away, so he can lurk up mid while still providing his team with the smokes needed to enter sites.

His Paranoia is also great on Abyss when it comes to pushing into sites, because it will help clear commonly held angles, such as B Link or the front of A Site.

Cypher

Role: Sentinel

Specialty: Defending sites and guarding the flank

Lurking is powerful on Abyss, so having a Cypher to punish those on the lurk will prove essential for the team. Having Cypher around will also allow the team to skew numbers towards a site where the enemy is applying pressure.

The Moroccan spymaster is known as a sentinel player in VALORANT because of the way he controls the flow of information for his team.

Cypher’s Trapwires can also be used to stop enemies from getting onto sites easily. There are plenty of boxes and surfaces on Abyss where Cypher trips can be placed, and it’s just a matter of making sure it’s difficult for the enemy to find and destroy them.

Deadlock

Deadlock from Valorant.

Role: Sentinel

Specialty: Holding down sites

Deadlock may not be getting too much playtime on the ranked servers or even in pro-play, but this map is perfectly suited for her. Her Barrier Mesh can effectively delay an opponent’s push to give the team enough time to rotate. This ability works best when placed in the choke points on A Main and B Site.

The Barrier Mesh can also be used by the attackers to take control of key areas, such as B Tower and A Tower if your team has secured the site.

Her Sonic Sensor also works great on this map for detecting movement and slowing down enemies because of many areas where enemies can drop, jump, or climb.

6

Chamber

Chamber from Valorant.

Role: Sentinel

Specialty: Taking advantageous aim duels

Similar to Jett, Chamber is also the perfect agent for holding down lines with the Operator. With a sniper in hand, he can easily take control of Mid. He can also get aggressive by taking fights in A Main or B Main right below Nest. If things are looking hairy, he can easily teleport away with his Rendezvous.

The ultimate orbs on Abyss are placed on spots that favor the attacking team. Taking early aggressive fights as defenders can help secure these orbs.

Chamber can also stop pushes with his Trademark that will slow down detected enemies. This is best placed by choke points or behind the team to watch the flank.

5

Gekko

Gekko from Valorant against a green and brown background.

Role: Initiator

Specialty: All Rounder

Gekko is a great initiator for this map due to his ability to do pretty much everything. His Moshpit can be thrown on choke points to delay enemy pushes, or it can help clear commonly held spots, such as behind the box on B Site. His Dizzy can detect enemies holding from the front of A Site or B Link.

This Initiator has a lot of tools under his belt.

What makes Gekko even better on this map is his Wingman, which can be sent out to plant or defuse the spike anywhere on the site. If the coast is clear, this can be sent out to plant on B Site ledge all the way from B Main or A Bridge from A Main.

4

Sova

Role: Initiator

Specialty: Info Gathering

The long rotations and open roofs of Abyss make Sova a great pick for the initiator role. Cross-map darts to gain info, as well as set recon darts to scan enemies during site hits, are what make Sova so good, and this map is well-designed for him.

When the attacking team gets the plant down, having someone fall back into A Main or B Main for post plant is vital. Sova is the perfect agent for the job because his Recon Bolt can be used to spot the defusers for an easy wallbang. His Hunter’s Fury will also make it easier to delay the defuse.

3

Jett

Role: Duelist

Specialty: Creating Space/Sniping

As much as we hate putting Jett on every list of ours, she always manages to sneak her way onto them due to how good she is. With her Cloudburst and Updraft combined with her Tailwind, she can quickly get onto the surfaces found on either sites as the team floods in behind her.

VALORANT: A Complete Guide To Playing Jett

Jett is a highly mobile VALORANT agent that can excel at dueling and reaching areas that are off limits to most other players.

The long-range angles of Abyss mean that weapons such as the Operator and Outlaw are perfect for getting picks, and Jett excels at that with her ability to quickly dash out after taking a shot. She can take aggressive fights on A Main and B Main with the knowledge she can safely dash away.

2

Iso

Iso from Valorant artwork against a purple background.

Role: Second Duelist

Specialty: Creating space/ Aim duels

When it comes to picking a second duelist, Iso is a decent option. With how powerful an Operator can be on Abyss, his Double Tap’s shield can help counter it. The Contingency can also be used to scale up B Main and Mid or even A Bridge.

Iso’s Undercut can be used to punish enemies getting aggressive and pushing out of A Main or B Main. With enemies turned vulnerable, the rest of the team can focus on wiping them out.

Iso’s Kill Contract can also be used to capture agents holding common spots on the different sites. It’s especially helpful when Iso can capture the sentinel and disable all their utility for the time being.

1

Reyna

Reyna from Valorant.

Role: Second Duelist

Specialty: Creating space/ Aim duels

Reyna also makes for a good second duelist, especially if you don’t already have an agent with a blinding ability. Her Leer can help with taking or retaking the areas in front of the large boxes on either site.

What makes Reyna a great second duelist is her ability to take aggressive fights on A Main and B Main with the ability to Dismiss and escape with her life. That said, the player that you put on this agent should be a reliable aimer.
