Summary
- Scream 7 will likely include compelling side characters battling Ghostface, like Chad Meeks-Martin.
- Fans debate if Detective Wallace should return- a witty no-nonsense character in Scream 3.
- Wallace could bring humor to Sidney’s life, survive, and add hope in Scream 7 without excessive deaths.
Whether they end up as the victims of a slasher killer’s spree or stick around for a few movies, side characters are some of the most surprisingly engaging characters in the horror genre. The fact that no one knows how long they’re going to be around might make them even more interesting. While it’s true that some aren’t well-develped, Scream‘s minor characters are always as riveting as the main players.
These characters are often Sidney Prescott’s (Neve Campbell) family members and good pals. They’re also sometimes acquaintances or people who Sidney meets who are also being chased by Ghostface. Like the other films in the slasher franchise, Scream 7 will likely have a compelling group of side characters who think they’ve figured out how to battle Ghostface. As fans celebrate the good news that legacy characters like Chad Meeks-Martin (Mason Gooding) are coming back, they want a particular side character to fight Ghostface again. Who do audiences wish would join the battle?

Should Detective Wallace Come Back For Scream 7?
A Scream fan started a Reddit thread asking if Josh Pais should reprise his role of Detective Wallace in Scream 7. One Redditor replied:
“YES. He is easily my second favorite Scream 3 exclusive character after Roman. His one liners are the funniest in the series… ‘He was filming a movie called stab. He was stabbed.'”
Redditor @sodayzed agreed:
“Yes. He wasn’t in the movie much, but he was so entertaining for his parts.”
As new actors are added to the Scream 7 cast, it’s the perfect time for audiences to wonder who could return. Other fans suggested ways that Detective Wallace could appear in Scream 7. One said that he could be the victim in the opening sequence. Another said that he could have a child who knows one of Sidney’s kids. There’s always the chance that a returning side character could be the killer. However, in this case, that wouldn’t make sense. Wallace doesn’t appear to have any reason to get revenge on Sidney or the other characters.
Both of these are good ideas. It’s always fun to see a familiar face, and if Detective Wallace was the opening kill in Scream 7, that would be both nostalgic and terrifying. Maybe he could visit Sidney and then find Ghostface instead, which would be a terrifying scene. However, it would also be great to see Wallace, who has a witty and funny personality, be part of Sidney’s family life. Maybe Wallace, Detective Mark Kincaid (Patrick Dempsey), and Sidney bonded over Ghostface in Scream 3. And, now that Kincaid and Sidney are married, the three have become good friends. Sidney doesn’t suffer fools, and Wallace seems like the kind of clever person who she would be pals with.
Since Scream isn’t known for being a genuinely scary franchise, it’s necessary to have at least one hilarious character in each movie. Wallace has a no-nonsense personality that works well with Sidney’s brave and tough approach to life. After losing so many great characters like Dewey Riley (David Arquette), it would be nice to see Wallace come back.
Who Was Detective Wallace In Scream?
Detective Wallace appeared briefly in Scream 3 but, since some fans want him to return to the horror franchise, he made a big impression. As fans pointed out on Reddit, Wallace says some hilarious lines and brings much-needed levity to the slasher film. Some have wondered if Scream 7 should copy Scream 3, so why not bring back a memorable side character?
What are some other movies starring Josh Wais?
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990)
- A Beautiful Mind (2001)
- Phone Booth (2002)
- That Awkward Moment (2013)
- Motherless Brooklyn (2018)
- You Hurt My Feelings (2023)
The most important thing about Wallace is that he can tell that Sidney and Detective Kincaid have feelings for each other. It would make a lot of sense for him to have a Scream 7 cameo for that reason. Even if he and Kincaid weren’t working together anymore, he could still be in their lives. Perhaps he is even the person who encouraged Kincaid to see if he and Sidney had a real bond.
Although Scream 7 should feature more deaths since Scream 6 didn’t kill a lot of characters, it would be great if Wallace not only came back but also survived. Sidney has mourned enough good friends and relatives. She should feel some hope… until, if Scream 8 is greenlit, she is hunted by Ghostface all over again.
