A 16-inch gaming laptop can deliver an immersive gaming experience. Here’s a handy guide to help you find the best 160inch laptops available.

There is some contradictory information in Asus’ press release regarding its display. The manufacturer mentions a 16-inch, 16:10 screen but later states it’s 1920 x 1080, which is actually 16:9. The laptop’s specs most likely match the higher resolution listed above. For FPS titles, what’s most critical about the V16’s IPS panel is its maximum 144 Hz refresh rate. Asus touts an 89% screen-to-body ratio, which keeps gamers focused on the action, rather than the bezels.

The images released show the Asus V16 as a slim, matte black laptop with sharp lines. Still, even at its expected low price point, the V16 exudes gaming flair. Instead of the per-key RGB lighting seen on pricey Asus gaming laptops, the V16 has a Turbo Blue keyboard backlight. To confirm its gaming status, it also has clear WASD and arrow keys. Branding is minimal, with a subtle Asus logo on the laptop’s cover.

Asus gives the option of 8 GB of speedy DDR5 memory, though this sadly won’t be sufficient for intensely visual games like Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Fortunately, with dual memory slots, buyers can order the laptop with 16 GB of RAM, or upgrade it to 32 GB. For storage, games should load instantly with up to a 1 TB PCIe 4.0 M.2 NVMe SSD.

Although it’s aimed at gamers, the V16 is a well-equipped laptop for gaming and work. The ErgoSense keyboard is designed to remain comfortable during long projects, with accurate typing. Asus included a generously sized trackpad, which has plenty of room for touch gestures. When conferencing with co-workers in chaotic backgrounds, the laptop’s 1080p webcam boasts AI noise-cancelling technology. When not using a headset, a Dirac audio system smashes expectations for a budget laptop with crystal-clear sound.

The Asus V16 checks in at 4.30 lbs, which is below average for a 16-inch gaming laptop. That added portability suits buyers who commute to work and school. Despite a streamlined form factor, the A16 is MIL-STD-810H certified, meeting military requirements for durability.

Buyers of the V16 can potentially save money by opting for a version without Windows 11. Asus is also including a PC Game Pass Ultimate subscription, adding value to the entry-level gaming laptop. We don’t know when exactly the V16 will hit stores, but there are affordable options in stock now. The 16-inch Acer Nitro V uses a AMD Ryzen 5 processor and produces capable gaming performance with an RTX 4050 GPU. Meanwhile, this 16-inch MSI Cyborg is powered by an Intel Core Ultra 7 CPU, RTX 4050, and has more generous storage and memory than the base V16 model.
