MrBeast Hits Back At Beast Games Negative Reviews

MrBeast Denies Allegations Of Crypto Trading, Illegal Lottery, And Child Slave Labor

Summary

  • Beast Games was released to a wave of negative reviews from critics and users alike, with IGN scoring it 2/10.
  • MrBeast claims this score was only given because reviewer Chase Hutchinson “doesn’t like” him.
  • However, many reviews from viewers include similar criticism, pointing out the overly simple challenges and rapid-fire editing.

Beast Games is a new Amazon Prime series helmed by Jimmy ‘MrBeast’ Donaldson that pits 1,000 contestants against each other for a prize of $5 million, running from now until February next year.

It’s essentially a bigger budget version of MrBeast’s usual YouTube videos, and so it inevitably drew much of the same critique. Viewers call it “evil”, “dystopian”, and “sadistic”, with The Telegraph and IGN only scoring it 2/10.

Beast Games has been mired in controversy since it was first revealed. But Donaldson stands firm that the show doesn’t deserve the hate. In response to a tweet claiming that IGN was “either paid” or “just did it for shock value”, Donaldson replied, “Yeah, sad one person who doesn’t like me can just label something a thousand people poured their lives into a 2/10 when it’s clearly not.

“The show as future episodes drop is phenomenal especially once we get the number of contestants down and you get to know them!”

Critics Aren’t The Only Ones Panning The Show

Beast Games has an overall user score of 6/10 on IMDb, but there has been a huge influx of 10/10 and 1/10 scores. Usually, that’s indicative of a review bomb, diehard fans (or the inverse) flooding the show with the maximum or minimum scores to try and sway the overall number. It’s hard to gauge what people actually think going by this metric.

But when MrBeast’s reply on Twitter was shared to the YouTube subreddit, comments flooded in poking fun at him and the show, giving us a better idea as to what people think about the whole situation.

“It’s pretty boring,” Single_Reaction9983 said. “[Challenges] are toddler level and he paid 50 people to get out. Editing is also the annoying MrBeast style, which makes it borderline unwatchable.”

I completely agreed with the IGN review — One_big_bee.

“The ‘games’ are stupid,” DumberThanUrMama added. “I watched two episodes, and the ‘challenges’ I recall are: throwing giant balls into giant cups, and stacking blocks into a tower. That’s it. Literally 90 percent of the challenges were just MrBeast tempting people to quit by offering them money.”

“It’s awful,” JotiimaSHOSH put it plainly. “If you’re not used to the style of quick cuts and flashing images and being repeatedly told what is currently happening you will find it horrendous”.

So, it’s hardly just the critics who aren’t enjoying the show. Nonetheless, Donaldson doesn’t appear to be taking it well.
