Mortal Kombat 11's Jade Voice Actor Responds To MK1 Kombat Pack 3 Cancellation

Summary

  • NetherRealm has yet to confirm whether or not Mortal Kombat 1’s Kombat Pack 3 has been cancelled.
  • Mela Lee, the voice actor for Jade in Mortal Kombat 11, was recently asked about the rumours that claimed Jade was one of the characters in the pack.
  • While Lee couldn’t comment on KP3 being cancelled, she did say that she met NetherRealm recently to discuss “plans”.

Mela Lee, the voice actor who portrayed Jade in Mortal Kombat 11, has said there are “more storylines” for the character following the reported cancellation of Mortal Kombat 1‘s Kombat Pack 3, although she doesn’t know when they will be.

As Mortal Kombat fans are painfully aware of, Mortal Kombat 1 has had a very rough go of things since it launched last year, with backlash aimed at its item store, online features, and a whole lot more. Still, ignoring Khaos Reigns’ disappointing story mode, things were starting to get a lot better throughout 2024 and a redemption arc didn’t seem that unlikely.

Mortal Kombat 1 Needs More Gaming Guest Characters

Mortal Kombat often celebrates its history with action and horror icons, but gaming is part of that legacy too.

That made the recent rumours that Mortal Kombat 1’s third Kombat Pack had been cancelled a big surprise, especially with Warner Bros. citing Mortal Kombat as one of its main series to focus on. Those rumours haven’t been confirmed by NetherRealm just yet, but the reliable leaker behind them suggested that one of the characters who was going to appear in KP3 was fan-favourite Jade.

Jade’s Voice Actor Responds To Mortal Kombat 1 Kombat Pack 3 Cancellation

While we won’t know for sure whether or not the rumours of Jade and the rest of the Kombat Pack 3 lineup were true, that hasn’t stopped fans from asking some people involved with the game who might know. Mela Lee, the voice actor for Jade in Mortal Kombat 11, is one of those people, as she was recently asked about Kombat Pack 3’s cancellation and shared her response in an Instagram reel.

As pointed out by Redditor Mineplex-V on the Mortalkombatleaks subreddit, Lee said that she can’t answer any questions about Kombat Pack 3, but that NetherRealm recently took her out to breakfast to discuss plans for the character. Lee then says that she’s sure there are more storylines for Jade, but that she just doesn’t know when they’re coming.

I can’t answer that question, but thank you for asking it. I can tell you that NetherRealm took me out to breakfast and we have plans. I’m sure there are more storylines for Jade, I just don’t know where they will be or when they’re coming. – Mela Lee

Lee’s very polite response to the Kombat Pack 3 cancellation rumours and her inability to talk about the situation do seem to suggest that they’re true, but that NetherRealm at least has some plans for Jade going forward. Some fans are theorising that it could be an animated feature of some kind, but here’s hoping MK1 isn’t actually done just yet.
