Ubisoft continues to add Steam achievements to its older titles, this time with the two most recent Far Cry games: Far Cry 5 and Far Cry 6. The Far Cry series is one of Ubisoft’s most popular intellectual properties. The most recent iteration was released in October 2021, followed by an interdimensional expansion pack known as ‘Lost Between Worlds‘ in December 2022.
As it has now been over three years since the last Far Cry game, fans are eager to know what’s next for the series. Although there has yet to be any official information from Ubisoft on the franchise, a recent report from an industry insider suggested that Far Cry 7 is now targeting a 2026 release window. It was originally reported that the next Far Cry game would be released in Fall 2025, but new rumors suggest that the title is experiencing “complexities in development,” which has led to an internal delay at the studio.

Far Cry 5 and 6 Now Have Steam Achievements
Far Cry fans may still have another year left to wait for the next entry in the series, but it looks like now is the perfect time to jump back into some of the franchise’s most recent entries as Ubisoft has continued its trend of adding Steam achievements to its older titles. On the official Steam pages of Far Cry 5 and Far Cry 6, Ubisoft announced that it had unlocked Steam achievements for both titles. The studio confirmed that any achievement progress made via Ubisoft Connect would be carried over to Steam and synced automatically, meaning players don’t need to start over. But for those who have put off playing the titles due to a lack of Steam achievements, now is the perfect time to jump in.
Ubisoft went on to reveal that Steam achievements for Far Cry 3 and Far Cry 4 are also in the works, but didn’t reveal any details about when they would be added. Alongside the Far Cry series, Ubisoft has also been adding Steam achievements to the Assassin’s Creed series. The most recent entries to be updated on Steam were Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag and Assassin’s Creed: Unity. These two classic entries join the likes of more recent entries, Assassin’s Creed: Mirage and Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, which also received Steam achievements earlier this year.
The studio’s sudden love for Steam began not long after Assassin’s Creed: Shadows was delayed to February 2025. In the announcement, Ubisoft revealed that the series’ highly-anticipated venture into feudal Japan would be released on Steam on day one, making it the first Ubisoft title to have a day one Steam release since 2019. Many of the studio’s previous titles were released via its own storefront on PC, Ubisoft Connect, but Ubisoft now says its strategy is to bring its PC titles to Steam on day one moving forward.
