Summary
- Naughty Dog is playing a rather sneaky game when it comes to Intergalactic: The Heretic Project.
- Beyond teasing which real-life actors will be playing “The Five Aces,” the trailer also seemingly teases a release window.
- Numerous references to 2-0-2-7 can be seen in the trailer, suggesting that a 2027 release is on the docket.
If there was one thing, if anything at all, that was missing from Thursday’s The Game Awards reveal of Naughty Dog’s latest IP, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, it was a release window. After all, how could you seemingly unveil a game inspired by the likes of Cowboy Bebop and Akira without at least giving fans a date to look forward to?
Alas, that was not the case.
That said, it appears that there may not have been a need to announce a release window. Because, as it turns out, the trailer is chock-full of references to the numbers 2-0-2-7 in varying combinations. Put them all together, and that gives you 2027.

The Devil Is In The Details
The first 2027 tease comes about midway through the trailer, beginning at 2:48 mark. While many fans were quick to point out that Colin Graves bears a near 1:1 resemblance to actor Kumail Nanjiani, there was another tease worth highlighting.
Specifically, the number underneath Graves’ photo begins with the numbers 3127. That would be March 1, 2027, which turns out to be a Monday. And while games typically are released on Tuesdays, or in special cases on Friday, this is Naughty Dog we’re talking about. They can do whatever they want.
Flash forward 20 seconds or so, and our heroine, Jordan A. Mun, begins punching in the numbers 7202 on the keypad to select a music track.
Flip those numbers around and that is 2027.
That last bit was also picked up by fans, so we’re not the only ones scoping every detail with a fine-toothed comb. And while many might suggest that we’re grasping at straws, lest we forget that the trailer has some blatant teases as to who will play “The Five Aces.” In other words, Naughty Dog has been very intentional to this point.
