Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver follows the events of the Blood Omen games, set in the same Legacy of Kain universe. In the Blood Omen games, players govern the actions of one of gaming’s most powerful vampires, Kain. The Soul Reaver games focus on Raziel’s journey of revenge against Kain.
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered lets players relive all the iconic moments in both games, including both confrontations with Kain in the first entry. Players can use healing sources to make these less like fights and more like tests of speed.

If you were playing hack and slash games on the PS1, then these games were the cream of the crop.
How to Beat Kain (First Fight)
The first fight against Kain will take place after the player has defeated Melchia and obtained the power to pass through gates while in the Spectral Realm. This fight will take place at Kain’s throne within the Sanctuary of the Clans. This fight involves Kain disappearing and reappearing at another location.
When he does this, he will fire a projectile that will instantly send the player back to the Spectral Realm. Luckily, there will always be a wraith present in this realm which the player can slay. Doing so will give them enough health to return to the Material Plane.
There is nowhere to hide from this attack, as it is capable of piercing through any walls the player tries to use for cover.
The best way to win this fight is to remember where Kain was standing and move towards this area. This will cause him to phase away and reappear at one of two other positions. Players will then dash for this spot while Kain charges his attack. Landing a blow will cause Kain to phase away and repeat his attacks. Landing enough blows will win the fight and trigger a cutscene.
Winning this fight will reward players with the Wraith Blade. This blade allows for a powerful, charged attack that finishes off any weakened enemy. Later, they will gain an upgrade that will allow them to fire projectiles with this blade. However, the most powerful form of this blade will come in the form of the Fire Reaver. The Fire Reaver can finish off foes at a distance by setting them ablaze. This can trivialize all lesser foes encountered while the player wields it.
How to Beat Kain (Second Fight)
The second fight against Kain will only come at the very end of the game. It takes place in the Chronoplast after defeating Dumah and making their way through the Oracle’s Cave. This fight is the same as the previous. This time, however, there are only 2 places Kain can spawn — but both are rather high up. While there are many powerful Glyphs in the game, all players need in order to beat Kain is speed.
In order to land a hit on Kain, players will need to run to the side where he spawns and high jump up to him. Between these 2 points is a healing mark on the floor. Standing on it will instantly heal the player. Players can stay at this location until they are confident they can make it to Kain before he makes an attack.
