Key Takeaways
- Classic Call of Duty games have started to appear on Microsoft’s PC store.
- You can now buy Call of Duty: United Offensive, Call of Duty 2, and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare through the storefront.
- This might continue a pattern of Activision games being added to this store before they’re eventually included with Game Pass.
One of the biggest questions hanging over Xbox’s Activision Blizzard acquisition was what would become of Call Of Duty after it went through. The launch of Black Ops 6 has proved Xbox intends to keep the series multi-platform, however, the wait for classic Call Of Duty titles to arrive on Game Pass continues. We may have just got a hint that the end of that wait is in sight, at least for a few of the older games in the series.
First spotted by Knoebel who shared their discovery on Twitter, three classic Call Of Duty games have recently been added to Microsoft’s PC Store – Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Call Of Duty 2, and the original Call Of Duty with its United Offensive expansion pack. That last one is particularly interesting not only because it still holds a special place in some people’s hearts more than 20 years later, but also because it was never released on console.

In the interim, fans have rallied against the use of AI for loading screens and other imagery.
That will be why United Offensive is, for now at least, still only available on PC. You can buy the bundle right now for $24.99. However, as Knoebel notes, it and the other two older Call Of Duty games appearing out of nowhere on the Microsoft Store could indicate that a Game Pass drop is coming soon. The arrival of Crash Bandicoot and Spyro’s remastered trilogies on the Microsoft Store wound up preceding their eventual arrivals on Game Pass.
Older Call Of Duty Games Have Quietly Been Added To The Microsoft Store
Previously That Has Indicated An Imminent Arrival On Game Pass
More than a year on from Xbox’s Activision acquisition being finalized, there are still only two Call Of Duty games available to play on Game Pass – Modern Warfare 3, and the newest entry in the series, Black Ops 6. There are a lot of older Call of Duty games currently available on Xbox consoles, including Call Of Duty 2 and Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, via backwards compatibility, but none other than the two mentioned are on Game Pass.
Xbox is taking quite a bit longer than expected to roll out Activision’s library on Game Pass, drip-feeding the subscription service with its newest studio’s titles rather than adding them all in one go. There are a few Crash and Spyro games on there now, but almost the entire Call of Duty library is missing, and there’s still no sign of any Tony Hawk games coming to Game Pass. There’s also been no mention of a Guitar Hero revival despite new life being injected into the genre by Fortnite Festival.
