Best Swords In Kingdom Come Deliverance

Best Swords In Kingdom Come Deliverance

With a sequel on the way, there’s no better time to jump into what is considered the best medieval game of all time, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, and swords are naturally a huge part of the RPG. One sword in particular is even at the center of the plot, although ironically given how important it is, it’s far from the best sword in KCD.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 – 7 Small Details From The Trailer

There is much to see in the Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 trailer, but some details are easy to miss if fans aren’t paying attention.

There are a huge variety of swords in the game, from longswords and shortswords to hunting swords and sabres. Typically, the larger swords require a minimum Strength stat to be wielded, while lighter swords require Agility. One of the coolest things about swords in KCD, however, is that, beyond their damage and durability, each sword also has a Charisma rating, with fancier and more expensive swords impressing people who talk to Henry while he is wearing them at his belt.

Updated December 9, 2024, by Joe Grantham: With excitement brewing for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 there’s no better time to jump into the original medieval masterpiece and grab one of the many beautiful swords. With more of KCD’s best swords presented to players, there should be more options for all stages of the game no matter how much Groschen is available. No matter the sword players choose, however, it’s important to train with Captain Bernard as Henry himself needs to level up with a sword. Given the game’s relative difficulty, most players will find that combat training is also necessary for their own skills.

Sabres in Kingdom Come: Deliverance aren’t typically the best when compared with other one-handed swords. However, out of them, the Decorated Sabre is the best. Its high Slashing stat is the Sabres shining feature, allowing Henry to cut into unarmored foes. Only 12 Agility is required, making it fairly accessible, but unfortunately, it is let down in the Charisma department, meaning players might not want to wear it around town if they have fancier alternatives.

To obtain the Decorated Sabre, players have two options beyond using console commands. The first is to get lucky when killing high-level Cumans, who may or may not carry the weapon. Alternatively, after the 16th main quest, All that Glisters, players can loot Menhart’s grave, the position of which is revealed by the knight Ulrich of Passau. The grave can be found near a burned-down hut after taking a path from Rovna, up the hill and into the woodland.

  • Where to find: Achieve the best outcome of Johanka’s trial during the A Woman’s Lot DLC

The Vom Berg Sword is one of the finest pieces of craftsmanship in the area, according to its owner, and it is also one of the hardest items to obtain in the game. First of all, players need to own the A Woman’s Lot DLC and during the section they play as Henry, they must manage to achieve the best possible outcome at Johanka’s trial, something that is very hard to do without prior knowledge. After this, they must then talk to Sebastian Vom Berg.

In terms of the sword’s stats, it is a great all-around shortsword that is good at stabbing and slashing, with it being the third best among shortswords across both categories. However, the standout feature of the Vom Berg Sword is the charisma rating of 19. This makes it a great sword for wearing around town to convince guards that Henry can go anywhere he pleases.

Apart from the Executioner’s Sword, which is not meant for combat, Herod’s Sword has the highest slashing damage in KCD, and when used alongside great Perks such as Blacksmith’s Son, players will soon be rattling even the most heavily armored opponents. As this sword is powered towards slashing rather than long-range stabs, players will need to change the way they attack, but as long as they do, the length and power of this weapon will help Henry on his quest for vengeance.

To obtain the imposingly named Herod’s Sword which also happens to be beautifully inlaid with gold, the easiest option is to purchase it from the Swordsmith in Rattay. For those who are reluctant to part with their hard-earned Groschen, it is possible to take it from a bandit during the ‘An Oath is an Oath’ quest towards the end of the game.

Hunting swords aren’t typically the best combat weapons in the game, but the Noble’s Hunting Sword and the Decorated Hunting Sword, to a lesser extent, are a literal cut above the rest. Naturally, this sword, alongside KCD‘s best bows, is more than adequate for felling large game such as stags. Additionally, if players are attacked by bandits out in the woods, they will also be well served against moderately armored foes.

If players have earned enough Groschen in KCD, they can purchase Stinger from the Swordsmith in Rattay, or they can follow the trail laid out by Treasure Map III. This map is bought from the Fresco Master near the Monastery and will lead players northwest. There is even a particularly well-dressed bandit whom players might encounter near Sasau, who owns the sword.

With good Stab and Slash damage and excellent Charisma, the Noble Sword is a great all-around option for players looking to take a shortsword into battle alongside a shield. It also looks great as part of the game’s iconic first-person melee combat.

6 Things We Want In A Kingdom Come: Deliverance Sequel

A sequel to Kingdom Come: Deliverance has the opportunity to double down on the survival and immersion mechanics that made the original great.

To find the Noble Sword, players will need to follow Treasure Map XIII to the woods east of Rattay, where a thankfully easy-to-open chest awaits. The map itself can be purchased from a herbalist near Neuhof. The only other option is available with the Band of Bastards DLC, as players can take the sword from Sir Hagen Zoul during one of the final quests. Sir Hagen also happens to have lots of the best armor in the game too.

Despite being beaten in all of the most important stats by St. George’s Sword, Longinus’s Sword is still a fantastic longsword. It is not only a great option for those not currently strong enough, but it also comes at a much lower price. Players can use its range and fantastic Stab damage to pierce enemies from afar.

This longsword, which happens to be named after the Roman Centurion who pierced Christ’s side on the cross, can be bought from various Swordsmiths (not the one at Rattay), or players could instead try to follow Treasure Map XXIV. This particular map can be purchased from wayfarers on the road.

Given that stabbing is the most important use of a shortsword, the sword known as Stinger must be considered the best for its Stab stat of 79. While other shortswords have better Slash damage, this isn’t as important and Stinger also has great Defence, Durability, and almost the highest Charisma. Having high Charisma by wearing nice clothes and swords makes characters more likely to agree with Henry. Another way to increase Charisma is by taking one of the more interesting Perks in KCD, Flower Power, and keeping fragrant herbs in the inventory.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance – 6 Reasons Why It Still Holds Up In 2024

Though it released in 2018, Kingdom Come: Deliverance has managed to withstand the test of time. Here are some reasons why.

To obtain Stinger, players have a few options. They could, for example, follow Ancient Map I, which is available to those with the Treasures of the Past DLC, and automatically placed in Henry’s chest. Stinger can also be looted during the Robber Baron quest from Wolflin of Kamburg. Lastly, a simpler, but more expensive option, is to buy it from one of the many Swordsmiths.

When considering all the metrics of the longswords in Kingdom Come: Deliverance, St. George’s Sword easily comes out on top. For example, it has the highest Stab damage and isn’t far off the top in Slash damage either. In fact, with excellent Defense and the second-highest Charisma, its only downfall is durability, which can be negated by attentive care.

To get both hands on St. George’s Sword, players can follow the trail of Treasure Map VII. The map can originally be found in the Sasau Monastery’s library and will lead players to a location northwest of Ledetchko. However, players will need to know how lockpicking works in KCD and must have reached level 6 in this skill. Alternatively, the sword can be stolen from a chest inside the camp that players arrive at for the epilogue.
