How to Get to Manoza in Dragon Quest 3 Remake
As previously mentioned, you cannot reach Manoza in DQ3 Remake until you have acquired the Ultimate Key. This is because the only way to enter the town is through a portal that is accessed with the key.
Wayfarer’s Chapel Portal:
To enter Manoza, you must first reach Wayfarer’s Chapel, which is the only other settlement in the area surrounded by mountains on the southeast continent. From the chapel, you will be able to reach Manoza on foot.
There are two ways to reach Wayfarer’s Chapel:
- Olivia’s Promontory: On the eastern side of this location, you’ll find two portals behind a door that is unlocked with the Ultimate Key. Use the portal on the right to reach Wayfarer’s Chapel
- Teleportal Shrine: The Teleportal Shrine features three portals. You’ll want to take the portal on the far right/eastern side of the room to reach Wayfarer’s Chapel.
Once you reach Wayfarer’s Chapel, head north until you reach a bridge to the west. Cross the bridge and continue until you can turn south. Make your way south, and you should see Manoza very shortly after.
Manoza Castle Walkthrough – Dragon Quest 3 Remake
When you first arrive in the town of Manoza, the attitude will be somber. Near the graveyard in the northeast corner of town, you’ll find that there is a funeral being conducted. You can speak to those at the funeral, as well as the NPCs around town, to learn more about the current situation in Manoza. The short version is that the King seems to have suddenly changed,
To find out what is going on, you should make your way to the castle. Head down towards the southwest corner of town to locate the entrance.
As you cross the bridge and follow the path to the southwest, you will suddenly be stopped as you approach the castle entrance. The NPC is the son of one of the King’s victims, and he warns you about entering the castle, telling you that it is extremely dangerous. However, after speaking to the young man, the game will task you with discovering the King’s secret.
Continue west until you reach the front gate and doors. If you go through the front door here, you will be blocked from going any further by the guards. Instead, head east at the front door, then turn and head north around the side of the castle. At the end of the path, you will find a blue door (Magic Key) that is guarded by a single soldier. He will not give you any trouble if you try to enter. .
Inside Manoza Castle:
Inside Manoza Castle, you’ll want to pass through the kitchens and make your way to the center chamber. In the center, you’ll see the King with a quest marker above his head. Approaching him will automatically trigger a cutscene, so you may wish to explore the castle before proceeding. However, you will be able to explore after the quest as well.
Immediately after speaking to the King, he will instruct the guards to lock you in the dungeons. This will begin the next major section of the quest: making your way out of the dungeon.
How to Escape Manoza Castle Dungeon:
When you regain control in the dungeon, you’ll find yourself in the southwest jail cell. Luckily, the Ultimate Key is capable of opening any door in Dragon Quest 3 Remake. So, you simply need to exit the cell, and head east, then south, to exit this section of the dungeon. You can open all the cell doors and speak with the other prisoners.
There is a Mini-Medal in a pot in the cell directly across from the cell you start in.
Head down to the lower floor and the game will automatically show you that the real King is being held in a dungeon cell. The King will tell you about Manoza Cave, and the magical artifact in it that can reveal the fake King’s true form: Ra’s Mirror.
After speaking to the king, head through the eastern cell, grab the Fading Jenny from the pot in the NW corner, then head through the hole in the eastern wall. Follow the path, and you’ll eventually emerge in the Manoza Graveyard.
