The VALORANT Esports circuit, the VALORANT Champions Tour, started in 2023. Since then, it has been one of the most appreciated and recognized leagues in Esports. Currently, it consists of four regional leagues comprised of 12 teams. Before the end of this year, Riot Games released specific financial data concerning the revenue they have shared with VCT teams. This article lets us examine these stats and its impact on VALORANT Esports.
Riot Games Shares Over $44 Million From In-Game Content to VCT Teams
The VALORANT Champions Tour is a unique Esports league with teams from all over the world. It is based on the franchising league model used in leagues such as the NFL and IPL. Teams are not relegated based on their performances and can only qualify through VCT Ascension. Since its launch in 2023, it has been widely considered a success, making the esports ecosystem in VALORANT one of the largest in the world.
Regarding the VCT 2024 season, Riot Games introduced a new VCT bundle within the game. It consisted of a skin for a classic, a gun buddy with the team’s logo, and a player card made by the team.
They also announced that the VALORANT Champions 2024 bundle revenue would be split into 60 equal parts. From these 60 parts, the 16 teams that qualified for the event will receive two to two parts each, and the remaining 28 will receive one part of the revenue.
According to Riot Games, this year, they shared over $44.3 million from just the VCT bundle and the VALORANT Champions bundle with all the teams in VCT.
Riot Games has stated that they shared revenue of over $78.4 million with teams in 2024. This includes the $44.3 million from the in-game bundles and the stipend and prize pool teams received from their performance this year.
Unlike last year, Riot Games hasn’t announced the amount of money generated from this year’s VALORANT Champions skin bundle. Looking at these numbers, one can wonder how much revenue Riot Games generates through all of its skin bundles released within the game throughout the year.
Another limited time bundle that VALORANT released this year was the Arcane Season 2 Collector’s Set in collaboration with their show Arcane.
