How To Start The Kina And Owen Quest

Kina is one of the very first characters you recruit in Fantasian Neo Dimension, and her identity is core to her growth as a character. When it eventually comes out that she is the daughter of royalty, she struggles to find comfort in who, really, her family is.

That’s where the Kina and Owen quest comes in. Hoping to find guidance, she seeks out the wisdom of the Ribbidons. But like everything in Act 2, that requires a lot of effort, a difficult boss fight, and more than a few unusual mechanics. Let’s get Kina the answers she needs.

How To Start The Kina And Owen Quest

For Kina to be able to tell Owen how she feels about her newly-discovered lineage, she needs to be in the party. As such, you’ll need to complete the Through The Wormhole quest first which has you saving both Kina and Cheryl.

If you speak with both Owen and Sebastian before rescuing Kina and Cheryl respectively, they will each have a unique jewel to offer you.

Once Kina has been saved, speaking with her back in Valrika’s Laboratory will have her giving you the Kina and Owen Quest. This is a level 44 quest, so make sure you’ve gotten all the levels you need first before getting started.

Finding The Ribbidons

After getting scared on how to break the news to Owen, she asks Leo to help her find the Ribbidons she knew in the Southern Forest in her youth. Unable to remember anything but the song they sang, she recites it, which Cheryl coincidentally also knows. She has a music box with the full song, and asks to visit the palace to collect it.

There’s not much to see and do here, though you can find a chest behind the folding screen with an Elixir.

After you’ve picked it up, you can head on over to the Southern Forest. Warp right to Kina’s house and head towards the Mecha Infestation. After journeying through here enough, a Ribbidon will be seen running past. Follow it deeper into the Southern Forest until you enter a brand-new area.

Save and heal up at the Save Point. You won’t be immediately thrown into the boss fight, and will have a chance to chat with the rather philosophical Ribbidons first. After speaking with the central Ribbidon, a scene will play that ends with the most esteemed of the Ribbidons appearing, Ribbidon Rex.

Of course, wisdom is gained through action, they state, and pull you into battle once you start talking with them. This is your last chance to get healed, set up, and save the game. How kind of them to give you that time.

Battling Ribbidon Rex

All of Ribbidon Rex’s Questions

Ribbidon rex is a rather powerful boss, though somewhat unique for everyone. Wanting to test Kina’s resolve, they ask a series of questions throughout the battle that influence how they fight. The questions you’re asked aren’t always guaranteed either, and can happen in random order sometimes, so there’s no definitive strategy.

That said, we’ve compiled every question that we’ve seen them ask to help guide you towards a fight that you feel more comfortable with. Here they are:

As you can see, there are quite a lot of variations there. It really lets you customise the fight to your own preference. After they have asked the final question of Kina, they will come back with 15,000 HP but no longer ask questions, making it a more straightforward battle.

For the Acorn and a Rock, you will not gain the Regen effect if you have a Barrier active.

How To Beat Ribbidon Rex

Kina must fight for the answers she’s looking for, as that is the only way she can really get an honest one, according to the Ribbidon Rex. With all the questions they ask, the fight can go any way you want, though they won’t make it easy.

There’s no guaranteed to way to play this fight, though Kina must always be in the party. Leo is helpful to have throughout the fight for the high attack power he has. Ez is great to pop in every now and then for his buffing, though it’s worth swapping in Valrika for Arrow Rain, as it can deal quite a high amount of damage.

Ribbidon Rex takes lower damage from physical attacks, so it’s worth using elemental attacks where possible.

The boss is still quite powerful regardless of the choices you make, so Kina’s healing skills are greatly appreciated here. A particularly powerful move the boss can use is called Slap Combo where they slap a single character upwards of ten times, which will most likely defeat anyone but Zinikr.

With the awareness of the questions they ask, you can put the relevant jewels on to defend against those ailments, making it that much easier to manage. Provided you keep your defences boosted and healing consistent, beating this first phase shouldn’t be too difficult.

After the boss asks their question to Kina, they will return with 15,000 HP, and will no longer ask questions. They also come with a few smaller Ribbidons to protect them and shards of rock orbiting around them that blocks ill-timed attacks. So for this phase, we recommend a rather specific strategy.

Get a character like Cheryl or Tan, and use their Tension skill. In the case of Cheryl, use a Double Charge and Attack Up before using her Tension Skill. For Tan, use Desperation, Mystery Potion and Attack Up before using his Tension skill. With these boosts, the boss can be easily defeated in a single hit, and you don’t even have to worry about avoiding the rocks.

The boss has an obscenely powerful move in this phase where they drop an entire cruise ship on the party that can easily wipe them if they’re not at full HP with boosted defences. So best to defeat them before they get the chance to use that move.

With Ribbidon Rex satisfied with Kina’s strength, they say that she has the answer she needs now, and to go about her own life now. Returning to Owen, Cheryl breaks the news to him, and that she is still happy to call herself his daughter. Her family has only grown, not changed. Maybe Ribbidon Rex really did grant her wisdom.
