Pokemon TV Returns As A YouTube Channel On December 6

Key Takeaways

  • Pokemon TV is officially returning as a YouTube channel less than a year after the service was shut down.
  • The channel will stream full episodes of the anime along with live streams and compilations.
  • The page is already live and Pokemon will start to add content to it from December 6, 2024.

If you ever have tried to watch the Pokemon anime from the beginning, or even just gone back to rewatch a favorite season or episode, you’ll know that figuring out what’s where and which subscription you need is a nightmare. The situation was made even worse earlier this year when the shutdown of Pokemon TV was announced. However, less than 12 months later, Pokemon has announced the channel’s return, and it’ll be back before the end of the week.

Originally reported by Serebii, Pokemon TV will return as a YouTube channel on December 6, 2024, so tomorrow at the time of typing this. The YouTube channel is already live if you want to check it out, it just doesn’t have any content yet. The images and channel description have revealed some of what we can expect to start popping up on the new channel from Friday, though.

What streaming service you need to watch every season and spinoff of the Pokemon anime, because it’s really not as simple as you think.

The channel’s banner features Pikachu, of course, with the original partner Pokemon Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. It also confirms that the revived Pokemon TV channel will include full episodes of the anime. The channel’s description reads, “Welcome to the official Pokemon TV YouTube channel, where you can explore the world of Pokemon with Ash and Pikachu.” So it seems unlikely the latest season of the show, Pokemon Horizons, which is the first not to star Ash and his Pikachu, will be added to the channel, at least not right away.

The description also notes that live streams and compilations will be a part of Pokemon TV, so while the biggest draw will be the full episodes, there will be more to do on Pokemon TV than just rewatch past Pokemon adventures. As for where exactly Pokemon plans to begin or if it will add episodes in release order, while that would be welcome considering how difficult it currently is to find and watch the anime, it seems unlikely.

Presumably due to various streaming deals with multiple platforms, the Pokemon anime’s 26 seasons and currently spread across eight different streaming services. That’s not even including spinoffs like the fantastic Pokemon Concierge. A reminder to check out the stop-motion series if you haven’t already. It’s one of the best things Pokemon has done in years and is worth a Netflix subscription all by itself.

Exactly what Pokemon TV is going to be will become clearer when the channel officially launches tomorrow and the first episodes are uploaded. If nothing else, it will be a great way to fill your holiday season with Pokemon content since there won’t be a new Pokemon game until Legends: Z-A launches in 2025.
