Crossplay and Cross-progression for Marvel Rivals

Crossplay and Cross-progression for Marvel Rivals

Marvel Rivals is the Marvel franchise’s take on the hero shooter genre. It will feature a generous roster of well-known heroes and villains at launch, with many more to come in the future. Some players might be wondering if they will be able to play with their friends on different gaming systems to theirs, more commonly referred to as crossplay.

Another question on some players’ minds is whether the game will feature cross-progression, which will let them be able to play with the same account across different platforms should they feel the need to switch which platform they first play the game on.

Marvel Rivals leak reveals Blade could be coming to the game

Players will be able to play Marvel Rivals on various different devices, and this makes it a very accessible game for many players. However, not all friends share the same gaming devices, and not all games let players on different devices play with each other. Marvel Rivals is luckily not one of them and will allow players across all of these devices to play with, or against, one another.

A lot of hero shooters are no longer around, and this means there are many players from these past games looking to find a replacement. Given Marvel’s immense popularity, it is likely that Marvel Rivals will be able to get a large enough following to not shut its doors any time soon, and give these players plenty of hours to enjoy it.

Does Marvel Rivals Have Cross-Progression?

Unfortunately, there is no Cross-Progression for Marvel Rivals at the time of its launch — despite it being a fan favorite feature. Meaning players that start a game on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X consoles will not be able to keep their progress should they get a powerful gaming computer in the future. This can be frustrating for players that have started the game on console but would much rather prefer playing the game using a mouse and keyboard.

Cross-progression is also a very important feature for players that like to juggle between different devices for different times of the day. They might love to have a long-spanning gaming session with their friends while sitting on a comfortable chair with a large screen to play on. However, they may also see long commutes to work and want to be able to play a couple of rounds on their Steamdeck.
